Can't seem to figure out how to get DTS on my x4000. I have Dolby Digital on the display. Source is my Sony BD player.

Thanks

Jeff

If it's set to "auto" and the source has DTS, it should play DTS. You might want to check the settings on your DVD player to see if it defaults to DTS where available.

My setting is on Auto as you mentioned for the Denon....I have my DVD player sending out the Bit Stream signal...which I thought is basically just passing the signal to the receiver to decode. I will play with it some more tonight.

Could the fact that I am only running a 3.2 system on this be affecting the Denon's auto selection?

Thanks

Jeff

Do you never get DTS, or do only some movies come out DD?

Which Sony BD player. They make several but with my 390 and 580, they defaults to DTS when the Blu-Rau has DTS. Most do, but not all do. Some are DD. Very few DVD's do, however.

Not sure of the model number...I will check when I get home....tonight

The movie I am trying to get the DTS through is a BluRay Harry Potty movie that claims it has DTS. This being a new receiver I have just started using it for movies and trying to get it setup properly...

I guess I could try another movie that claims to have DTS also to see if it pull it through.

Since it's a new receiver, you might want to spend a little time with that owners manual. I don't have it, nor do I have the inclination to search for it and read through it.

You have to set these up Manually on mostly all the Sony BD players to get DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD
Go to Settings>Audio settings
Audio (HDMI) Auto
Digital Audio Output Auto
DSD Output Mode Off
BD Audio Mix Settings Off
Dolby Digital/DTS Bitstream
DTS Neo:6 Off
Audio DRC Auto
Downmix Stereo

I will give it a try tonight....do I have to do this for every movie or will is stay this way once set?

Cool glad it worked. Yep it will stay unless you reset your settings back to default.

Cool. I think my older Harry Potter bluray may have not had it even though the series bluray pack I bought claims it has it. I put in Frozen in and it picked it up.

Sometimes the receiver won't pick it up. Sometimes I have to set it manually to get get Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio. Try that with the Harry Potter(Which one is it I can check my copy on bluray) and let us know.

It is disc 2. So I believe it is from 2002. I know they had DTS then....
