I don't object to people buying and selling costly gear. There's nothing wrong with a little audio jewelry. Where the line gets crossed is making readily disproved pseudo-scientific claims to help sell the product.

The article provides validation to those who truly believe it's worthwhile to spend $90 on $10 wine for the sake of the placebo. Such is life in a culture defined by consumerist ethics.

I'm not the jealous/envious type and never have been. If people want to purchase audio bling and it makes them feel good, more power to them. Live Steve said it a couple of posts up, don't use pseudo-scientific claims to justify your bling as being a superior product.

I've always appreciated high end equipment (other than cabling). Sure I wish I could afford some of this stuff but I don't go around putting people down who can and did buy products I view to be disproportionately priced. There's a fair amount of equipment like that I would love to have if I could afford it.

Inequality is part of life. I work hard and buy the best audio I can afford. What others buy may be of slight interest, but I mostly care not. Peace and goodwill.

That doesn't define the word 'envy'. Do you covet this? Do you want it and feel bad that you can't have it? DOES IT CONSUME EVERY WAKING MINUTE OF YOUR LIFE?????????????????????????? AAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have known people who were definitely envious of what others have and that's really small-minded thinking. What one person has doesn't mean squat to anyone else or it shouldn't, anyway. That's THEIR life and no one else's. I worked at an extremely exclusive country club when I was in high school and I don't come from money. It didn't make me envious, but it did allow me to see how people can become when they're wealthy. Some were great people, many were knobs. I have had wealthy customers and some are great, some I didn't like. I appreciate their artwork, furniture and homes for what they are- fine artwork, nice furniture and nice homes.

Life is too short to be caught up in jealousy and envy. It's also too short to tolerate bad audio.

I'm just waiting for his response to this:

I think that buyers are often unknowegable about their purchases and don't realize that there are less costly and better sounding alternatives at a fraction of the price, even if they don't have a desire or opportunity to DIY. Then, they often don't understand about speaker placement, room treaments, sources, etc., and can be running a very, very expensive system that sounds like crap. I am not envious in the slightest.
