I have a pair of RC10's and think these are excellent speakers, especially at this price. They have the cleanest Al tweeter I have heard and compete with the Be and Ribbon tweeters I prefer with only a slight loss of "shine" (A-B'ed against Paradigm Signature S2). That is significant because distortion/fatigue are not a problem (to my ear)
YMMV, but historically, I have had fatigue issues with Al tweets - these are not a problem!

Nice to see some great deals still happening on those Energy speakers. I wouldn't call the aluminium dome used in the RC's as fatiguing...although I would say at times it would sound a bit off.

Heck...its being around 5 yrs since I sold off my Energies but the fit & finish(real wood veneer) along with the overall sound they were worth the asking price($750 cdn) even back in the day...@ 229. p/p that's a steal...IMO!

Can you elaborate on "sound a bit off"? I picked up the center to use with my Signature 2's, and want to make sure they will work for me before the return period expires. (I'll stick with phantom center before paying for signature center. HT is not that important to me).

I'm curious, have you heard a better aluminum tweeter? I have not listened to many because I had learned to stay away from them. The Paradigm Studio also has a pretty good one, but it would have a slightly audible breakup on a cymbal crash, if you knew what to listen for (sizzling bacon) and knew the recording was clean.

It will be interesting to find how that center works for you.
It has a unique dip and then a rise up

It is a curiousity that they added the two 2" mids instead of simply using the same 5.5" mi-woof and 1" dome which seem to do well together in the RC-10.
There aim was for more on the high-end side and to mate good with
the towers. Also, they were designed to work as L/C/R speakers and
to be placed vertical

Vertical measurements

If one did have the vertical space - I would get another pair of the RC-10
and use one vertical as a center.

I have not heard the Studio monitors but based on user accounts I've garnered over the years, they'd be on the forward side of neutral, whereas... the RC's fall on the warmer side of neutral with a slight colouration in sound...guitar riffs come to mind that usually exhibited this minor exaggeration from t-t.

My current speakers are polar opposite from what I had grown accustomed to with the Energies. They showed me what was missing during that time...granted, I was very happy with the RC for many years but going forward this wasn't a lateral move but an upgrade and a much larger financial commitment...in the end.

Fwiw...I would highly recommend the Energy RC and I have in the past. At those prices for any new members or those looking for a quality all around speaker without breaking the bank. But....I have it on good authority(Alex) that you have a keen sense of hearing being musically inclined and you'll likely find some fault but for 229.00 bucks you'll gladly live with.

My 2 cents...:)

The towers do not have 2" mids! They have the same drivers as the RC-10 plus dual 6.5's added.

Excellent plan! I have plenty of room for the 13.5" tall RC-10, and probably what I will end up doing.

Thanks for the info!

What is "t-t"?

They do measure on the warm side of neutral with a mild (but common among many speakers) hump in the mid-upper bass. I don't know if Audyssey corrects for this or if this hump does a good job of compensating for our reduced sensitivity to bass at lower levels (as does Audyssey Dynamic EQ-probably the design intent of many speakers), however, running them with Audyssey and crossed to subs, I am quite comfortable with their sound character, and they do a great job of imaging. If this was an HT only system, I'd be totally comfortable substituting these for my Sig 2's.

I have criticized the resonance of the Infinity Primus P363 towers. It may seem like I am contradicting myself by accepting this warmth in the low end, but it is the non-linear aspect of cabinet resonance that is troublesome. At lower levels, there is little resonance, but as volume goes up the resonance increases disproportionately - the opposite of what you might want based on loudness contours.
