Hi ,

I am wanting to buy a stereo amplifier. I have Jbl studio 280 speakers. The speaker output is 200 W. I have been playing these speakers with the harmon lardons Avr 260. The speakers sound really well while I am watching movies but for music , I feel I should have a stereo amplifier. Please suggest what to buy that would match the speakers and should produce crystal clear sound and should have a good bass. I would prefer playing the speakers without the sub woofer for music.

First of all speakers don't output watts, it's how much input they can handle. Are you looking for a 2 channel amp and do you have an active or passive sub??

I am wanting a 4.1 wheel car. I already have 1 liter engine and 2 speed transmission, just need it to be really fast and turn really sharp. Please suggest such car as I prefer to ignore laws of physics and common sense. I also have a budget of $1

If you want to play louder - get bigger amp, if you want more bass - get a sub and if you don't like the sound at all - replace the speakers

simply changing receivers would do next nothing

Your post really makes no sense. When you specify a ".1" channel you DO say you want to use a subwoofer for stereo, so what's the beef with using one now?

BSA's first paragraph is a bit harsh, even by my sarcastic, sadistic standards, but what follows bears repeating. You should strongly consider this advice.

If you want to play louder - get bigger amp, if you want more bass - get a sub and if you don't like the sound at all - replace the speakers

A bigger amp won't add bass. to grant wish, the genie will have to give you either a sub or new speakers.

There is no ".1" channel in two channel music. It's just summed mono from both channels with a low pass filter and a powered sub's internal crossover can easily handle that task. You can connect virtually any powered sub to virtually any stereo amp.

But, yes you should state a budget

I really like my Onkyo A-9050 integreated amp. It has a subwoofer out and a nice internal DAC for optical and coaxial inputs. It is just about the best audio thing I own. Peace and goodwill.

The AVR sounds really GOOD for movies, but not good for music?

Did you use Direct Mode? The sound should be more crystal clear in Direct Mode.

Amps don't increase the bass output or make your bass tighter or faster.

If you want more bass, you have to either buy full range towers or just add subwoofers.

I say add a sub to what you have and see if that addresses your audio concerns.

Yes I agree that 200 w speaker means the power handling capacit of the speaker .Well if I attach the sub woofer to my speakers then the vocals get suppressed. The bass coming out of speakers should be good enough. Also since I have a harmon kardon AVR , I have a stereo mode as well, but I feel the sound gets more refined if the same is played on a stereo amp.

I have heard marantz PM 8005 stereo amplifier. It is a 70 w per channel .Kindly suggest.

Thanks
