Help me selecting an AVR unit for my needs.

Hi guys,
I'm a neophyte trying to gather a decent HT audio system as a gift for my wife.
She really likes music and quality sound...i'm just a movie watcher, but this set up will be focused in quality, rich, deep, nice sound....budget is $3500

The system will be installed in a small room, 2400 cf aprox, as you may notice, space is the most critical constraint....so a 5.1 system is good enough, maybe a 7.1 AVR because we will be moving to a bigger place within a year, 9.x not needed.
we dont like 3D TV and 4k TV will remain out of our budget in the mid term future.
bluetooth is a "must have" for my wife so she can play music from her phone, wifi connectivity is convenient "nice to have".
My plan on speakers are ascend acoustics 340s, pedestals, 340center and wondering if 170s or satellites 200s as surrounds.(all from ascend acoustics) and the 170s for the future.

I'm not yet defined in the sub yet due to space constraints...We would be willing to introduce a bulky piece of equipment if it adds a great, nice, deep, nice bass when listening music and spectacular sound when watching movies.....HSU VTF maybe?.....sugestions are welcome.

However I need good advice on what AVR to buy?...evaluated a denon4520 but no bluetooth so its out of consideration, a marantz sr6009 was considered as well...but for our intended use/plans I'm sure a unit in the $1000 price range will be more than capable for the following 10 years or so.

Please feel free to make suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help

Just thought I'd chime in with a comment about that assertion...

I think it is wrong, and here's why. Contrary to popular belief, you can use a HDMI-less receiver and benefit from all the latest and greatest audio bells and whistles if the receiver has (hold on for this): ANALOG multi-channel inputs. With a late model BD player with 8ch out, you can get DTS-HD-Master and Dolby True-HD to work on a system without HDMI, should you desire to do so.

Choosing an upscale player like a Oppo BDP-103/105 with analog outs, allows to get beyond a receiver's digital tech limitations, by bypassing these limitations. Much like we used to hook-up VCR to stereos in a not-so-distant past, you can get your sound even if the image doesn't go through, or is passed through as-is.

I changed my receiver 3 times before I finally learned (by pure coincidence) about this way of doing things, All flagships. Sad waste of money. After learning about the Oppo and the possibility of using Analog to get out of this vicious and expensive circle of upgrades, I got an Oppo BDP-103, and kept my beloved receiver. I will be looking out for a player with analog sound when the next format becomes ubiquitous, and keep my receiver.

Do spend a little time researching this option. Your budget is limited, and I think either an older model or used model with a proven track record and analog inputs, combined with an Oppo, would get you more satisfaction and more format playback capabilities than the "latest&greatest" receiver with a Wally-world class BD player.

The more $$ you have left for the speakers, the better. A decent and proven used flagship with analog inputs and HDMI (1.4a) pass-through can be purchased for around $250 US where I live. Add a Oppo BDP-103, yoour at 750$ spent, this leave you a bit of (much needed) extra headroom for the speakers, which is where I think money is best spent for lower-budget start-up projects.

Just my 2 cents.

One thing i disagree with is multiple channel outs on bd players its not a rule, but a tiny minority with oppo basically only choice. I bought $900 avr 7 years ago and still have no plans of replacing it. Latest and greatest gizmos like 3D ate not supported, but I don't feel that i need them.

As for specific recommendation : spend less on electronics, more on speakers. Ascend are great choice and hdu vft2 would be a great match.
Denon x1100w should cover all the basics.

Can you not add bluetooth to the 4520 with an adapter?

I would also suggest this route if it can save you a few hundred dollars. - I've added BlueTooth to my aging receiver by adding an external BlueTooth module, it cost me 35$.

Is Abes of Main a reliable retailer?
Are they an Authorized Denon Dealer, if not stay away as you will have no warranty
Good call!
I just called them and they are not.

I have bought several items from them over the years and they are a reliable retailer in my experience, but I would want the Denon 3 year warranty for sure!
