I watched it last night and I had a good laugh. I'm glad I didn't pay money to watch it. The thing I don't get is how the Korean "wack job" leader could get so bent out of shape from a stupid movie like that. Honestly dude... lighten up and stop taking your dumb a?? so seriously.

I'll see it eventually but I'll not go out of my way to see it. I like the "frat boy rat pack" type movies these guys have been making lately but it's all cotton candy, not anything I'll seriously stress over.

Besides, I'm still not too sure all this brouhaha wasn't simply an elaborate publicity stunt manufactured to boost up a movie of questionable merit.

I thought of that too after I watched it. Like I said, I'm glad I didn't pay to watch it.

1) I'm not sure the art of comedy is quite as sophisticated in N. Korea. (not meaning to imply the humor of this movie is sophisticated, but, N. Korea...well you get the point)
2) As you say, he is a "Whack job"! He is actually (unwittingly) a great source of comedy himself. That is the only reason I know anything about him - he does things that are funny (when viewed from a vast distance). They are often tragic, I don't mean to make light of the situation of his peasants, but you have to laugh with such things as:

All party organs and public security authorities should make a list of residents named Kim Jong-un ... and train them to voluntarily change their names.
There can only be one Kim Jong-un! - Not a training program I would want to participate in!

All of that said, MarkW probably has it right.

OK, we watched it last night on Netflix. It was funny. Not a riot, a lot of stupid jokes, but funny. As I suspected, it's a frat boy movie with two best buddies hamming it up for the screen. Just like real ham, I can take it in small does. It was worth every penny I paid to see it.

I do think they tried in their own way to make a political point. Not their strongest suite. They should stick to their frat boy (frat pack?) formula. That seems to work for them.

edit: Rob Lowe was a hoot.
