AV receiver replacement

I have an Integra DTR 7.8 AV receiver that's having some issues and I want to replace it.
I have Dynaudio Focus floor standing speakers and have my TV and DVD running thru the Integra AVR.

Even though the Integra DTR 7.8 is surround capable, I've only been using it in two channel stereo.

I've been out of touch with the latest in AV trends so I'm looking for any recommendations on a replacement AV receiver (I prefer one component over multiple components).

I appreciate any inputs on brands/models! I used to be fond of Arcam but don't know their current reputation.

The DTR 7.8 has Audyssey MultEQXT so a good equivalent modern unit would be something like this:

If you only want a 2 channel unit then there are Marantz, Cambridge Audio, HK and others. For multi channel the Denon is very hard to beat in terms of price but if you don't need Audyssey the Yamaha RX-A3020 or 3030 would be great choices.

If you don't need the kind of power output your Integra offers then the best deal right now seems to be the Denon AVR-X4000. For $739.99, it probably is unbeatable.

I would call Onecall and Electronics Expo and ask if they would sell you a new Denon X4000 for $650 shipped, which is only $89 less than the best authorized dealer price.

Although authorized D+M dealers are only allowed to advertise the current MSRP, they can quote much lower prices if you call them on the phone. Usually they're only slightly higher than what Accessories4Less charges. Also, since they're new units instead of refurbished, for the X models, you get a warranty period that's a year longer.

Here is one quick example. You can buy a REFURBISHED Denon X4000 (a unit that was sent back to the Denon factory) for $700. Is shipping extra since I don't see the "Free shipping" ? So that's another $40 shipping?

Or buy a BRAND NEW X4000 from an authorized dealer for $739 shipped, which means you could probably get for around $650 shipped if you call the dealer on the phone.

It is from an authorized Denon dealer on Amazon, so I bet Best Buy would price-match that also.

Deals are out there. Remember the Denon 4520 for $1K brand new on Amazon and Best Buy?

I can vouch for the X4000. Love mine. Paid nearly double the current price for mine, and would do it again. :D

Bear in mind that authorized Denon dealers will quote a much lower price if you call them on the phone. They're only allowed to puslish Denon's MSRP. Usually the price of a new unit is only slightly more than what A4L wants for a refurb.

However, don't expect Best Buy to go that low, since they only have to match published prices.

I would highly suggest too you get a center channel for TV watching. It helps a lot since the voices go through it and it separates them from the other sounds. It's a big benefit and if you dont' want to change a lot then it would help.
