Pffft, if anything its more akin to the LX. As far as I'm concerned its a chicken or the egg argument between the Linkwitz stuff and John's stuff . Meaning its a win for me either way.

Building the Notes kills two birds with one stone. I get to hear an OB speaker, which I've never heard before and it gives me another build project. Besides, your description of how the Orions sounds got me curious about OB speakers and thus the research into whether to build the NaO Notes, the Orions, or the LX's began. SO, the moral of the story is that this is all your fault

Well since it is all my fault, then it's perfectly okay.

Probably the only thing dipole, bipolar, and Omni-pole speakers have over other speakers is the wider/deeper soundstage, not in the treble/midrange detail, clarity, resolution or imaging and not in the bass.

The fact that my Orion is actively quad-amp is also cool.

My SX-T2s can also be quad-amp (four pairs of binding posts), but the treble/midrange is PASSIVE bi-amp and the bass is ACTIVE bi-amp.

If you lived in OKC, I would try to encourage you to impulse buy.

But since you live in GA, please don't do that.

Honestly, the thought of having to pack them up and shipping them gives me pause.

I think the Salon2, 802D2, Phil3, dual Funk 18.0 subs, Focal, and Dynaudio towers really burned me out on the shipping.

I would do just fine not having to ship another speaker forever.

It didn't take me as long as I thought to have a return to sanity. I've been driving around running errands while thinking this over and realized that if I was going to spend $5k on another pair of speakers, I'd rather spend $10 to 15k and get substantially different speakers from my Phil3's.
Although the Orions are likely better speakers than my Phil 3's and might be a better choice if I was choosing between them, I absolutely don't need both, the Phils and the Orions. Having spent time with Dennis Murphy, I am proud to have his speakers in my home, so they will stay.

The Orion were on eBay & Audiogon for about 5 months. Not a single offer was made.

The Phil3 were on AudiogoN for about 3 months @$3K. Finally had to lower the price to $2K to sell.

I think ID brands just don't sell over $2K.
