Would you sell something you really like??

I am thinking of selling the Primaluna HP Integrated that I got two months ago. I really like the amp but I think I am swaying towards the all SS set up of my Parasound and ATI amp. I want to keep a hold of it because it's really nice but then I think I could sell it to recoup my new Ascend RALL tower purchase. I got the Primaluna at a good price and now I might never get that price again. I make poor decisions and regret selling stuff. What would you do? Looking for opinions.

I've sold a bunch of stuff I really liked. I regretted it for awhile, sometimes that regret fades, other times I wish I could have something back. Overall, I'm happy where I landed in terms of what equipment I have now. Heck, I'm doing that right now. I'm selling my Aragon 8008X3, which I happen to really like and enjoy, but here I am listing it for sale.

If you have something in mind that you definitely want, I would say go for it. If you can get the price you want, awesome. If you can't, don't compromise. Either way, you'll either have the amp you already own and enjoy or you get your asking price and then you can get that other thing you want.

What would I do? If I got a good deal on a nice tube amp - I'd keep it. If you need to sell it to make ends meet, then absolutely sell it. If you still like it and can afford to keep it, then I'd say keep it.

Then again, I almost never sell anything. Stuff is worth more to me than I'd be able to sell it for, so I don't sell it - I give it away, because then I feel good about it.

All of that said...what do you want for the Primaluna? :D

I think you should sell if you can break even.

Stick to SS or class D.

Got your P5 back yet?

I would sell it, I do the same thing, keep this, hang on to that, and then a couple years later when its worthless I end up giving it away because I have no room....

That being said, I heard the Vincent hybrid the other day and I wanted to buy one for some reason... If you are in love with the amp and are having sellers regret before selling it don't, but if you are going to put it back in its box and store it, then sell it...

I think ImcLoud and j_garcia have stated two very good reasons to sell: to buy something else you like and to avoid it being boxed and unused (might as well let somebody else enjoy it). I was lugging around some equipment for a while and finally decided it was better to let someone else enjoy it than let it sit unused in my garage. It's the circle of life - newer toys come in and get all the attention, the older toys get taken out of rotation. Sell them so they're new to someone else and get the attention they deserve. And, in most cases, audio equipment is a depreciating asset.

I do it all the time. I have to sell stuff that I have before I can buy something else.

Well I will be damned!!! I got the P5 back last night and did some A/B test.. Wouldn't you know it. The Primaluna does sound a bit better than the SS equipment. The sound stage is just bigger and more engaging. The SS set up is more detailed and clear but the Primaluna wins in overall sound enjoyment.. I had put the Prima on ebay and ended the sale early. Just can't sell it yet...

Yeah, sometimes accuracy is overrated; it's the enjoyment that counts.

So if you enjoy the tubes more, then definitely keep it.

Glad everything worked out for you.

Of course. I would sell something I really liked:
If it meant getting something I liked more, and/or
If it didn't leave a gap in my system, and/or
If I didn't plan to use it, and/or
If I needed the money for something more necessary, and/or
If its value was enough to justify the effort of selling it.

It all depends on what you like and it sounds like you enjoy the primaluna, theres nothing wrong with that... I like my tube amps, I like my SS amps, come to think of it I think I like all amps...
