I would just get a power strip if you need one, don't worry too much about surge or power filters.. Do you have a lot of surge problems in your area?

Friday I get an email from WaveCrest stating that the speakers won't be shipped out until Monday because they couldn't finish the QA process before the UPS driver arrived.
That could be a made-up excuse, or it could be true. QA processes often include extra checks done on only a sample of products. The chosen products are desirable because they've had quality analysis above and beyond the other systems... but it does slow their shipping. So if it's true, you might consider it good luck... eventhough you missed the weekend party. Or it could be a made-up lie to cover up incompetence. You'll likely never know. But it is a risky business trying to get a manufacturer to hurry up your shipment.

I just moved into this house a couple months ago and haven't had any surge problems. I'll just go with a power strip.

Herbu- Curt from Wave Crest Audio called me last night to tell me that shipping would be an additional $150 if I wanted the speakers by Friday. I asked about a Saturday delivery and they said their shipping company doesn't do Saturday delivery. I asked if they could chip in on the shipping and they said that they already lose money when charging me $30 for shipping because it cost them a lot more to ship.

Now here is something weird. I received the Denon AVR-1513 receiver today. I turned it on and the receiver turns off after 5 seconds and then has a red blinking light. This happens with and without the speakers connected? I also tried connecting one speaker at a time. I only have the two Fluance AVBP2's and the sub right now. I tried plugging the receiver into different receptacles and the same thing happens. I just sent an email to accessaries4less to see what I need to do.

I also learned that when I hooked the Fluance AVBP2's to the wiring in the wall I get no sound. I then hooked them directly up to an old boom box stereo and they work. So the wiring that is run through the wall has some issues. I'll have to replace that with some new wire. I'm hoping I can just fasten the new wire to the end of the old wire and fish it through?

WOW, someone has a black cloud hovering, I never heard of so many problems putting a basic audio system together... I am sorry you are having so many issues..

I would call denon rite away, they will send you another unit, as far as the wires go get a continuity tester and make sure you are on the right path theis will tell you if the wire you think goes somewhere actually does...

Once this is all together it will be worth it...

As far as Curt and wave crest goes, did you ever get an actual delivery estimate? Stick in there it will get better...

You know, life is good. If this is the worse that is happening to me now, I'm okay. Things happen. Accessories4less has already sent me the information I need to return the receiver. I have a $75 best buy gift certificate that I have had for a couple months now and I see they have a Denon AVR-S500BT for $250.00. I was thinking about just buying that one since it would only cost me $175. What do you think?

Curt told me I would be getting the speakers by next Monday. I just received the UPS tracking number from him and it looks like I will get them by end of day on Tuesday.

Bud, I am so sorry wave crest dropped the ball on this one, I will mention this when I reccomend his equipment in the future, I am confident that you will really like the product, but I hate that cs up to this point has been sub par...

As far as the receiver goes, if you contact denon another one will be shipped as soon as the broken one is picked up, either product is worth the price, best buy will price match so check amazon before you buy, if it says "sold by amazon" they will match the price...

I appreciate it! I'm still very excited to get this setup and going. I figured out the wiring problem and all is good there. I've already cut, sanded and painted the wood for the corners. just need to install it and mount the speakers.

Funny thing, last night my wife asked where I was going to be putting that big black box (sub) that was in the corner of the family room. I said it will be staying right there and explained what it is. I told her she may not care for all this, but when we watch a movie, listen to music or the football games it will sound awesome. Also, when we have a friends over and they here it, they will think it's awesome and then you won't care too much about all this.

Haha, yup.

My GF didn't care for it much either. But, when my wireless surrounds had a problem, she finally had to admit "I liked it better before". I wasn't even too concerned and wasn't near the top of my list to troubleshoot. Well, after that comment it went up in priority.

HT -1 and GF -0 ;)

Well, I got the system all set up. I am very very happy with it. It totally exceeds my expectations (that's not hard to do being such a novice). I've been having fun going on YouTube and watching some surround sound 5.1 videos.

I just want to thanks everyone for their help and recommendations. Especially Imcloud. I can't thank you enough. I appreciate all your time and detailed posts.

Thanks guys and I will let you know when I upgrade. lol
