replacing the centre speaker

Hi

Would be grateful if you could clarify some of my doubts...

I have a F&D 6000u 5.1 speaker system attached to my desktop. The center speaker has a 3" full range driver with a frequency response of 150Hz-20kHz and consumes 14 watts of power. Its connecting cable is 2.5 m long. I am not happy with the centre speakers as the high frequency sound experience is not at all good enough. so my question is whether it is possible to directly connect a new centre speakers of some other brand to the present one.

thanks in advance...

best
san

mixing speaker lines in your front sound stage is frowned upon, you want a matching front 3 that have all the same timbre.. Are you running any kind of room correction?

Is there even room correction available on a PC? :)

Dear OP - Don't take personally, but this product description reminded me why I hate talking to customer service or technical support people from India.

I get it - English is not your first language, but neither it's mine.

In fact english is my 3rd language !!!

Yes, somehow I worked many years in US english speaking companies and have very little to no issues communicating with managers and colleagues.

Back to the subject:
Honestly this system is severely limited (to say it politely)
The best thing to do is to sell it and start from scratch

Rsther than buying a single center, your best bet is to buy new L/R mains and running phantom center or to buy a new LCR.

JBL LSR305s are a solid choice dollar for dollar.

Yes, DIRAC :)

To the OP, yes, sell the front three speakers and get new ones.

Do ya'll realize that OP has crappy cheap-azz multimedia 5.1 system. Aka the amp is in the sub. He can't just replace front/center or any other speakers.

DEAR OP - Trash the whole thing and start over !!

btw: I don't know if OP could afford it, but above mentioned a pair of JBL LSR305 speakers will provide great quality music.

My post was a subtle way of saying trash your system and start with stereo, and then build outwards.

:D
