Award-winning Indonesian guitarist Tohpati Ario Humoto teams up with former Yellowjackets bass player Jimmy Haslip and former Frank Zappa drummer Chad Wackerman for this hard-driving jazz-fusion release. While this CD features strong ensemble performances throughout, Tohpati is in full control of the musical direction. He wrote and produced everything on this CD, and also contributes with a mixture of (mostly) electric and acoustic guitar. With a total run-time under 45 minutes, my only real complaint is that there isn't ENOUGH music on this CD!

As a lifelong Zappa and fusion fan, when I saw Chad Wackerman is included on this, I jumped all over it. Great stuff! It's already on Google Play All Access.

New "jazz fusion" without a "jam-band heart" has been rare of late, but this, in addition to your latest posting of Dewa Budjana's new album, is really good stuff! Nice to see Peter Erskine belting it out on this.

Never thought I'd be so interested in what's coming out of Indonesia...but geez, great stuff guys!

I've got another (live) CD with Wackerman--and a few other big names--I plan to review early next month.

Agreed...and I never would have known about it if it weren't for the MoonJune Records label!
