I am as lost as I can get. For whatever reason I cannot get my HDMI sources to display at all, component works fine. I am hoping someone that is familiar with this reciever can walk me through what I am doing wrong.

I am almost certain it is because when I press "Audio Input" or "Video Input" on the remote control, I can only get the reciever to switch between component and "S" cable inputs, either digital or analog.

The normal HDMI/HDMI is not an option like it used to be when i cycle through the modes. Please help.

Check to see that HDMI is selected for each of the inputs you want to connect via HDMI. The settings may have got disturbed. This is covered on page 34 of your manual.

If this does not do the trick then your HDMI board had failed.

As with a lot of older receivers, there does not seem to be a way to reset the unit to factory default settings. If I have missed this go ahead and do this and see if this solves the problem.

That receiver is 2005 and well past its sell by date. It is not worth fixing.

Thanks for the reply. My problem is I cant get the receiver inputs to switch to HDMI... it just cycles through component and super video options, hdmi never appears as an option; would this be due to a faulty hdmi board? is there a way to check to verify that the board is out, rather than it just not working?

I know of no simple of checking for a definitive cause of the problem. Unfortunately that receiver is not worth the cost of diagnostics in a shop. The overwhelming probability is that the HDMI board needs replacing. The cost of the board would be far more than the receiver is worth. It is also highly doubtful the board is even available for a receiver that age.

If you want HDMI then you need a new receiver.

Hi. Have you made any changes to your system between when you used to be able to select HDMI and now that you can't?

Also, did you check out page 32 of your manual (that TLS linked for you)? If you are using either the VCR or DBS input selection, it's possible that you just haven't assigned the HDMI input to that source.
