Best Quality CD player .. Not sound

Every BD player I've tried, including an Oppo two years ago, took what seemed like forever to load a CD. Has anything changed? I'm too impatient to wait for some firmware-driven, low-power micro-controller to decide to let me hear a disc. :)
I can honestly say that I've not experienced this with my bottom of the line Sony BDP-S360 BluRay player.

I've serviced them, and I can assure you the build quality is very high and they sound excellent. People are not daft, and these players are sought after. They have stood the test of time, as there a lot out there still working.
Well, I would put them in the very good category, WRT build quality; ultimate was your word. Your observation that it sounds excellent tells us more about the often-derided CD Red Book spec, that even 14 bit dynamic range sounds great, than the Revox. Hi-res audio is, IMO, mostly a gimmick. I'm guessing you agree with that opinion.

Hmmm. I've got a Sony BD player... I'm not sure of the model number, and I'm not near it at this time... and it certainly loaded CDs a lot slower than any dedicated CD player I've ever owned.

If I were the op and wanted a cd player that would last a long time, I would but 5 parasound z-cd's, that should be a lifetimes worth...
Ha.. this is good. If I could find a silver one without rack ears, that would be a good option.. Not to keen on the small size but it's cheap.

I never meant to convey the message that the Sony as fast as a dedicated CD player because it's not. However, it's far faster then you made it out to be.

I have seen them on audiogon, I like the small size, not sure what we need to have preamps, cd players, and dac's so large, there is nothing inside the case just empty space... The zcd is a very nice unit...
