Looking for a small amp

I'm looking for a small (size and weight) amp like the SMSL-SA50 or the Dayton DTA-120. From what I can tell, none of these amps have a trigger input or auto-on feature. Is there one available with such a feature? Or, do these have to be left on all the time to avoid having to walk up to it every time for manual on/off?

+1 on the power strip, I have a few of them {I like it better than auto power on subs}..

If you dont like the powerstrip idea {sometimes its not a great idea if you are using it for a zone 2 amp because you don't use zone 2 everytime you turn on your avr...
you can use a remote controlled power plug,
Etekcity® 2 Pack Wireless Remote Control Outlet Remote Light Switch Plug (Extra Battery included): These sockets/wall plugs are the newest/smaller version with a 100ft range. It is the first and only version allowing you to program each button - Elec

Emos mini X has a trigger but its a little more money... https://emotiva.com/products/amplifiers/mini-x-100

I have one of them remote control plugs running a lepai 2020 and it works great...

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually need this solution for 220-240V with European plugs - should've mentioned that, huh? I will look around to see if I can find either strip with European plugs. I have confirmed that the SMSL does work with 220-240V.

The mini-X is a little too large and heavy (I own one). I actually need 2 (to power LCR) and baggage allowances aren't what they used to be, unfortunately.

An AVR is probably what I'll end up doing. I have an unused Emo UMC-1 sitting around that I thought I could re-purpose. But, that's turning out to be a lot more complicated than I'd hoped.

X-A100 is solid for the price and has the trigger. Heck, I may pick another one up. Had to send back my SECOND Topping TP-60 as it had an issue also, so I won't be buying any more Toppings. I now have a credit for that Topping at PE and I asked them abut the DTA-120 and the PE techs didn't have a lot to say about it, aside from it is manufactured in China. Doesn't bother me where it is manufactured so much as it works...

None of my (your :)) speakers. This is for my folks - they have NHT SuperZeros.
Hey, I owned SuperZeros for 10 years! :D

I used a HK 50WPC AVR with those NHT. My brother now has my NHT SZ + HK AVR.

And since it is for your PARENTS, you should definitely get a cheap AVR! :D

Wow sorry to hear that about your tp60, ours are still going strong, that is weird... Did PE say they are having lots of problems with them?
My mini x's are awesome little amps, I wish they were $150, lol $220 is a deal but for a little more you can et a parasound zamp v3 which is bridgable, although no volume control {but that could be a plus in some systems}...

I may give the Lepai LP7498E amp a try. It is rated at 160W X 2 @ 4 Ohms, 100W X2 @ 8, looks small (large power supply though), but no trigger. It is bluetooth capable, but a CNET review said the BT quality was average while directly wired it sounded pretty good. Plus it is just $100.

APA-150 includes a free tactile transducer right now too :)

The SuperZeros are awesome little speakers - no doubt.

Even if I buy them an expensive AVR, I have to tell them I got it cheap. And, their definition of cheap is based on 70s prices!

It sure is plus it works with 110V and 220V. Only issue is the weight in carrying it overseas. I think the gen 2 is out or coming out soon. You may have to look on ebay for gen 1 if you need them to match.

At this point, I'm leaning AVR as that will be the easiest for them to operate. I should be able to pick one up at the Duty Free shop. I'll just try and sell the UMC-1.
