Issues with Yamaha RX V773 Receiver and B and W 683 speakers soundling blown...

So after a while of listening to the speakers very loudly they will start to sound like they have a ton of noise in them and basically sound like they have blown tweeters, then after a while of softer listening it will go back to normal. Well this happened once and I just figured I would have to keep it turned down and buy an amp in the future but it is now happening more often. Before it would happen when I had the system turned to -6 or above now it is happening from -20 and above.
Basically I am a noob with home audio and need some advice as to what I should be doing to eliminate the problem, I am guessing I have to buy an amp..

Damn that kinda sucks, it also shuts off and just tells me to check the wires when things are just getting good, checked the wires and everything is fine. Its under a year old... can I just buy an amp and have the Receiver still do its thing... I was thinking an Emotiva UPA-700 or because I really want my speakers to kick should I get the XPA 5, or something different. Any help would be awesome I really want my new B and W's to sound great.

If it's under a year old it should be covered by the factory warranty if you bought it from an authorized dealer and still have your receipt.

You have a short between + and - at either the speakers or at the receiver if the AVR is telling you "to check the wires". Having a short is extremely detrimental to the amp. Its probably too late and you've fried the AVR. You should have payed attention to the warning and recheck all of your connections.

ok so I did pay attention to the warning and checked all the connections, maybe I am not checking them properly and just dont know what I am looking for. What is the proper way to check to see if I have a short? Because if I go ahead and get a new receiver or get this one replaced I dont want this to happen again.
