Favorite Pandora Station?

I like Pandora. $3/month is cheap for good bitrate, and it is where I discover a lot of new music. When I hear a song I like but don't know, with a couple clicks I create a station based on that song or artist. If lousy, a couple more clicks deletes, but it often plays a lot of people I've never heard of.

Some of my stations are:
J.J. Cale
Little Feat
Mark Knopfler

From these, I've learned of Snowy White And The White Flames, Jonny Lang, Passenger, and more.

You?

I created my own Pandora "station using as a base Asleep at the Wheel, Big Sandy, Wayne Hancock and Bob Wills and a few others that slip my mind. It to plays quite a few artists and songs I've never heard of or ones I've never considered but I find that's a bonus.

I've learned about more heretofor unknown (to me) arists that I like and the downside is that I've bought a lot of CD's thanks (or not) to it. Among them are Rosie Flores, Johnny Bush, KAy Lenz mad Tennessee Ernie Ford.

If you're into western swing, you might want to consider Spade Cooley, that is if you can get over the fact that he killed his wife.

My station has played him too. I simply can't afford every artist they play. Western and Western Swing (and TRUE country*) have a legacy spannng decades and this station has familiarized me with so many, both old and new.

Oh, I also like Alt Country, such as Hank III and Gas Money, Reverend Horton Heat, The Derailers, and Jimmy Dale Gilmore, all of which I thank (or curse) Pandora for introducing to me..

IMNSHO, it would behoove any new and struggling artist to get in bed with Pandora, even if they don't get paid, simply for theexposure it offers. A targeted market is invaluable.

* At one point, country AND western were two distinct styles until a marketing decision by Capital records combined them (for simplicity) and the label stuck.

That's quite a collection for a "Joisey" boy. I would pay money to follow and watch you driving around w/ the windows down and stereo loud. :D

I'm preparing for our move to Aggieland to be near the grandkids at the end of this year. ;)

Actually, I've liked "roadhouse" type music ever since my time in Texas and the Gulf Coast in the service in the late 60's.

And, our tastes aren't really all that different. To wit:

Yes!! A couple of my stations play Mark/Chet cuts. They're great!
Some of my other stations are: The Notting Hillbillies, Soldier's Eyes, Zac Brown Band, Doc & Richard Watson

I listen to those channels most though the Algo is so predictable that I often have to delete stations and reload them to get more variety.

I've got a Notting CD,a and like the others save for soldier's Eyes. I've not heard them. ...yet, but that'll change very soon. Gotta love Google.

Try and did up "Gas Money". They're from Philly but about as as roadhouse/Alt Country as you're gona find.

Pandora continues to be one of the original streaming success stories! While I only listen occasionally (I mostly spin CD's/playlists that I own), my favorite (custom created) station is:

John Williams (composer)...the one with all the movie soundtrack Grammys & Oscars.

It hits just about every movie soundtrack I've ever liked (Star Wars/Trek, Indiana Jones, Apollo 13, TRON, etc., etc.)

I don't see the choice going through my AVR, but when I log on to Pandora w/ my computer, there is an "Add Variety" option for each station. Maybe try that.

It seems more and more that I hear a song I like from somebody I've never heard of. I go to itunes and preview more of their stuff, and find I only like the one song. Or I create a new Pandora station based on the artist, don't like most of the stuff, and soon delete the station.
