Need some sub help/advice

I just recently got into subs and audio technology and whatnot, and I am having some technical difficulties. I have had two 12" MTX Thunder 8000 for many years now and have just now decided to brush the dust off of them and get those babies going. And I have already ran into problems. First off I have no idea what half of the parts are so I am going to try to explain in detail what I need help with. Basically one of the subs is all ready to go, and the other one is having wiring issues. My problem is, that there is two tinsel leads coming from the mid are of the sub. I have no idea what they are called, but I realize they are supposed to be connected to a (terminal im supposing?) that has two clips you push down on the top to put the amplifier wire into, reads 4 Ohms, and has positive and negative ends with small holes where the tinsel lead is supposed to enter below. I am supposing that these are what the tinsel leads coming from the subwoofer are supposed to connect to. What I am getting at, is that one of the "terminals" hole has attempted to been soldered, and the tinsel lead has fallen out, failed by someone else. Now, the solder is not completely filling the hole, but as long as the tinsel lead is soldered somewhat inside the hole it will be okay, right? I NEED SOME GUIDANCE. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D Thanks!

P.S.: Sorry for the vagueness.

Home for now, soon to be car. The enclosure is just a simple dual box that came with the 2 subs. Right now nothing is powering them, im just simply working out all the wiring problems as of right now.

And my real question, or atleast what I am trying to ask, is it ok that even though there is already solder in the terminal it needs to be connected to, that as long as it is soldered to the terminal it will be fine?

how can you work out the wiring without knowing whats doing it? are you gonna be using a 1 ohm stable amp or a 4ohm? You should probably google series and parallel wiring

4 ohm. And by trying to work them out I mean by trying to figure out what I can do to fix this problem lol.

And to get the sub itself fixed before I even start all the other wiring, which I somewhat know how to do.

Pics would help. Are you talking about the leads from the subwoofer itself?

Yessir. Thats really all im trying to fix right now. The rest of the wiring and setup I can figure out from tutorials and whatnot, but I cant seem to find anything on this issue.
