Integrating mix-matched subs .... Rythmik FV15HP or SVS PC13-U and an older eD A3-300.

Didn't EQ them, but they were level matched and placed right next to each other for fast A/B switching.
Guess it would be hard to determine the overall sound quality without individual eq and non Co located placement.

It was a purely qualitative comparison. EQing was deliberately left off. The response curve at listening position was not exactly the same, but very similar from 30 Hz on up. This was done for fast A/B switching, to reduce aural memory as a factor as much as possible. The comparison is described here, where the ED is pitted against a Rythmik, Hsu, and Outlaw.

OK, maybe I was confusing your original post
I was under the impression that it was about using non like subs in a setup. Too that my point was with separate eq that it can be done effectively. Now is a lost leader from a BM store and a top flight sub gonna work well, maybe, but it's not worth the coin to try. If the subs in a multiple setup are capable makes, individual EQing will work along with placement second.

Seems like we're talking about different things. I didn't think this was a comparison.
My suggestion remains the same. If you have a system w/ 2 sub outputs, capability to control them separately, XT32, and a single lightweight sub, I recommend getting a good sub and experiment w/ placement and settings to use them both. Perhaps your situation will be like mine, and a configuration can be found where the 2 subs sound better to you than just the single good sub alone.
