I would say a $299 Dayton Omni-mic might be a better investment in what is going on with your room than $1500 in CDP.

I had that issue for a long time. Everyone tells me that "Pure" and "Direct" is best. That "neutral" and "flat" is best.
Same here, for 2 channel music enjoyment I have been a pure direct only person for a long time. It wasn't until very recently that I stopped using pure direct when I finally decided to be honest with myself that there is no SQ gain to have, so why give up the display and the ability to engage and explore the potential benefits of other options such as DEQ, 2.1 with/without Audyssey, Audyssey flat, L/R bypass etc. etc..

Whatever sounds best is right - whether we DEQ in the processor or player.

So we can either have Pure Direct (PD) in the processor and DEQ in the player or we can have DEQ in the processor and PD in the player. :D

But PD in both the processor and player just doesn't seem quite right. :D
