Urgent help with my YAMAHA RX-A3030, sound will not play thru AUDIO 1-4 input.

I got this Yamaha RX-A3030 about 10 days ago, I was able to play Blu-ray thru Video-1 and had a CD player hooked up to Audio 1. Everything was playing perfectly, but then today I was not able to play anything out of AUDIO 1, so then I tried AUDIO 2, 3 and 4 and still nothing. I was thinking this could be my CD player that acted up, but then I hook up the Blu-ray player to Audio 1-4 via RCA cables, and nothing was heard. I am still able to play the same CD thru my Blu-ray play via HDMI only. I dont know if there is any setting that I did wrong. I just dont get why I could not play anything thru AUDIO 1-4 input just HDMI. I think the unit is defected, and this is the 1st for me from YAMAHA.

Hi. You might want to check if you somehow toggled the "Audio Select" setting (see page 102 of the manual) to something other than "Auto" or "Analog."

I don't know why you are using the analog inputs for BD player or a CD player if it has digital outputs.

HDMI connections are best and analog connections the worst.

I suspect that you have not assigned your inputs correctly. Go to page 104 of your manual and correctly setup/verify that the correct inputs you want to use are selected and named.

Hi and thanks, when I said CD player it was yhe Pioneer Elite Laser Disc player that I used to play CD and it does not has the digital output. And also because all my sources go thru my Pro Mixer first, EXCEPT for Blu ray and Home Theater. My Mixer only accept RCA and XLR OR SLR whatever. I use my Panasonic BD PLAYER to play Cd sometime and of course thru HDMI. the Panasonic BD player use for CD is no where near the sound quality of the Pioneer Elite. Thank you once again, but what I do not get is why this happened now. It was fine 2 days ago. I contacted my seller and the Yamaha Tech support will.call me tomorrow. It is under warranty and I hope I do not have to send it in for repair. Thank you for being so helpful. Love this forum.

I would use the HDMI connections for your BD and TV. CD player use audio 1 or audio 2 jacks and normal RCA cables. I would review your menu setup settings to be sure you have your devices set up correctly. Your audio setup is on page 102 in your manual.

I just got home and hook up the Antenna Plug for Tuner and it does work. I can tune to different station and it has sound....

So today, the seller contacted me and told me to disconnect all connections (HDMI, RCA) cables from the Yamaha RX-A3030, unplugged the power cord and let it sit for 15 mins. I did that, and reconnected everything back on, and assigned Audio -1 where my LD/CD player connected to as Analog, still nothing. Then I reset/re-intialized my unit, still nothing. Then I connected to the PHONO input, I can hear sound from my LD/CD player but the sound was terribly distorted. I dont know what else to do at this point. I might have to send it back to the seller and get a replacement. Bought it from ebay... brand new from Authorized Seller. Or should I contact Yamaha Support... Thanks

If the tuner and phono inputs work, I can be almost certain you have a set up error. I would bet your next unit will work the same way.

The phono input was distorted, as it is a very high gain input for very low voltage cartridges. In addition is provides RIAA equalization

So, I even did the reset/reinitialized of my unit and still nothing. Not 1 but all Audio 1-4. Thanks.

Hi guys, everything was good from the get-go. The system was perfect when I 1st set it up. Then after my long duty day at work, I went home and pretty brain-dead. Since I also have a Mixer as my primary for all sources, I got things mixed up. I was thinking and pressing the wrong input the entire time, then I got sucked into it. After getting all positive comments that my Unit is working fine, I then realized what I did wrong... Thanks to all for everything...
