Hi Experts,

I'm looking for a list of amplifiers that can output bi-amp to power my front towers. The room size is not determined yet cause I will be moving to a bigger space in couple of months so I will leave that out.

I want a list that can work perfectly and match my front towers and works with my receiver - Yamaha A/V Receiver RX-A3030

Here are few specs of my receiver and my Towers:

That would be a pretty long list since most receivers in the mid range and up will allow this.

The Yamaha 3030 is a solid receiver for the speakers. Anthem, Denon and Marantz, are a few other manufacturers that will have the bi-amp feature in receivers costing the same as the 3030.

First off, bi-amping in a non-active crossover design isn't gonna gain anything, it will be a waste of time and wire.

2nd, that Yammy that you have is already bi-amp capable.

Uif you feel you need more power just buy amp and run it out of the preouts. How ever your gonna need a 350wpc amp to notice a difference in power. ;) passive biamping as mentioned isn't gonna get any results with your setup.

I've got a reply from other forum that says +3db is what I'm gonna gain?? +3db is not much of a difference and not worth the spend.

The purpose is only to go higher yet clear sound volume. The room is small now but moving to very big one soon. However, if +3db is only what I'm going to gain then I would not go with this route.

Yep, for a measly 3 db gain you must double the power. For a significant increase, about twice as loud subjectively, it takes 10 times the power. That is more power than your speakers can handle, and why I mentioned it in your other thread. 'Loud' takes specific considerations, starting with speakers that can actually get loud without going to pieces.

Even a +3db gain with bi-amping is questionable. Remember, these amp channels will still be pulling power from a common power supply and that will be the limiting factor.

Now "only a 3dB gain"? A 3dB gain = double the power. That is why crossed said in his post that you would need an amp at least 350W (to double the power of the Yammy and get a 3dB gain). dB is a log scale.

You can hear a 3dB gain without question, even though it doesn't sound like a lot. What the average person perceives as "louder" though, requires more than +3dB.

As mentioned, biamping with a receiver is pretty much a waste of time. If you truly need more power, and you don't even know that yet, get an amp.

I'm gonna wait for the receiver to come. I'll test it and let you know.

Out of curiosity, anyone has a list if those amplifiers??

I think you are confused. Any pair of amps could be used to bi-amp, as you use 1 channel for the highs and 1 channel for the lows.

You won't even get 3 db, only an unmeasurable fraction of a db. The power divide is in the region of 400 Hz, there is very little power going though the high pass filter, almost all the power goes though the low pass filter.

Do you have a subwoofer? If not, get one and then use the Yamaha 3030 preouts with a Emotiva XPA-2 or a 2 channel proamp from Crown Audio and you are good to go. You may hear a difference but most likely not especially with a decent subwoofer in the mix. Those speakers are rated 50W nominal so the 3030 is already a good match for them as others have commented already. For louder and higher quality sound you need to look on the speakers side of the equation.
