Hi Audiophiles,
Is there a sound difference between the A5+ Bamboo and A5+ Black? I am looking to purchase them and wanted to know if the Bamboo makes any difference in SQ. If so is it beneficial?
Thanks

I can't believe there's any difference in sound.

According to another forum, Bamboo is more resonant and needs tweaking to sound the same as mdf.
I've heard both, but not side-by-side, though I don't remember hearing anything amiss with either. I ordered them in white just for aesthetic preference. If you're really concerned I'd call Audioengines and ask them about it.

I just talked to Audioengine and the guy said he's heard them both and can't notice a difference. They've taken all steps to make sure they sound the same. He said that the majority of people said they like the bamboo better, but he said that could just be a placebo effect because they cost more. He said the reason MDF is used is because it's cheaper and standard. The bamboo is hard and not porous so I think it should sound the same.

I wouldn't expect it to be so different that it would really matter. I definitely prefer the look of the bamboo model.
