Well it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks. I had a bunch of interviews down in MD. A week or so later I got news that I hadn't gotten any positions and that a couple of the interviewers had gotten a very different impression than I had tried to project, and not in a positive light.
See, I told you, should've worn pants.:D

Around the same time I found out my GF had scored a position for her interviews, which was fantastic. However, it put us in a tricky position about whether to stay in NY and gut it out or move and try to make it work on one salary. Anyways, we decided to give it a go and got back yesterday from looking at apartments and townhomes. Skip ahead to today and I roll out of bed at around 11:30 now that school is out and the sub calls have stopped. I have a voicemail from HR so I figured maybe I had gotten some more interviews, which would be great but a royal pain since it would mean another trip down to MD. So I call her back, play a little phone tag, and lo' and behold she's called to offer me two positions.

I accepted one and am 85% of the way towards being fully employed. Just thought I'd share with you guys.

Just imagine the projects I'll take on now that I have a real job :p :D
Congrats to both of you.
That's great news!
Are the jobs local, or are you two going to be working in different areas?

Glad to hear the good news! Find anything good in the apartment/townhouse hunt?
We did. We found one place that we absolutely loved, but with one salary it would have been close as to whether we could comfortably afford it. The big downside to it is that it put her 20+mins from work and now it would put me 30+ mins from work. Not terrible, but not great either. However, with a second salary we're could, we she's on board, be in a completely different ballpark in terms of rent and there's a place that I'd like to see that's more money, but much larger and puts us roughly 10mins away from both of our schools. The only problem is that we would have to take another trip down to see it.

Well look at you Congrats. I would not tell the GF yet. See how far you get with the allowance first and once that is set and you are moved down there you can mention you might have a job.
Nah, that didn't go over real well when I ran it by her :D. She said I better get my a$$ to work if I want to eat or do anything else..................fun

See, I told you, should've worn pants.:D
I can't help myself. The breeze is just so darn refreshing :D

Congrats to both of you.

We're both going to be in the same county at schools about 10-15mins away from each other. So pretty close.

Their comments about me were more disappointing than actually not getting the position
I've met you and can say with confidence that you are better off well away from those whining b!tches. @ssholes like that are impossible to please and they bring everything down to their sh!t level. Congrat's on avoiding that. Close call. :D

Their comments about me were more disappointing than actually not getting the position, but I'm glad the woman I had been in contact with since I had first applied told me. I figured it would allow me to interview better for next year or if I managed to get anything later in the summer now that I had a better idea of what they were looking for.

Congrats FUZZ! Will everything fit in? lol
Well with two salaries now, we're looking at places a bit bigger than what we're in. So that will be very very nice :D

Thanks man. One of the women I did my screening interview with (or pre-interview), who was the one that informed me of the comments, said she was shocked to hear that. She interviewed me and we met in person and had lunch as well. She's the head of the math department in the county so I'm sure she had something to do with me getting this position since she was very much in my corner.

One of my colleagues and a longtime friend was telling me that it could very possibly have been because the two schools I know for sure said that stuff, both had women interviewers. Nothing against the opposite sex, but he said that they easily could have taken one look at me and taken any confidence I tried to project as arrogance etc etc. Nothin for nothin, but I fill my out my boys extra small shirt pretty well if I do say so myself :D

An apartment or townhouse, with all his equipment?
I see a big sale in his future.:D
Subs go first, then that huge center channel.
It's as if I'm reading his girl friend's mind. :p
Still deciding on which. As to an ADTG firesale, you can all keep dreaming :D Unless I can sell something to Alex and make him pay more than he wants to again I'll hold onto it :p

Dude, congrats on the job!!! That's awesome. It's great that you and your girlfriend both got jobs so close to one another.

Hey, Fuzz - you nervous at all about moving away from home and to another state? I bet it's pretty exciting, but a little unknown, too.

Looks like I've got a man-date with Cliff in Denver this September. Better start stocking up on KY.
