Buy or lease... BMW or Ford...

Have you driven either car? You need to test drive any car that interests you. Once you've test driven them all then you can go after a great deal for the car you want. I found I love to drive Mazdas more than any other car. If I were buying a sports car I'd probably be looking at a used RX8.

Did you drive it? I'm very curious as to what they drive like. The interior of the CLA looked pretty luxurious in photos, but, I haven't seen one up close. Curious on your thoughts!
I like the look of the CLA and the price. I did not drive a CLA. My opinions are based on what I know of the C class which may not be fair. I was going to buy a certified C class until I read a bunch of owner reviews.

I don't want to totally hijack this discussion but I am buying a used 2007 335i convertible this week.

Well, I'm sure you will have fun with that! I assume you have an alternate vehicle for winter since you are in Madison? I was just up there last weekend.

Enjoy the new toy!

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, the CLA is actually not on the C class platform, it uses the A class platform (A and CLA in Europe, only the CLA is sold in the US).

A class was kinda the 'old peoples' car in Europe. The latest A and CLA seem to be designed to appeal to youth.

I'd love to drive an A-class AMG, hehe.

TBH: I visited NY 2014 Autoshow and most mercs were open. The only one which truly felt luxurious inside was S550 (Far from stock I assume with another 150k in options)
Not big fan of neither BMW or Ford interiors.

Bottom line: If you want a reliable car - get a Japanese one. Acura or Infinity are good choices.
Do keep in mind that Acura TL-S with front wheel drive (AWD is optional) is not very stable - too much power on the front axel
i own a 2007 Acura TL Type S in kinetic Blue. The car is solid and 100% reliable and quite a looker. FWD does get on my nerves at times especially when accelerating on turns or going over bumps. I recently drove a BMW M235i and fell in love but my wife hates the interior and even the exterior :(

We both love the Porsche Cayman S but too damn pricey and I fear the maintenance costs.

I absolutely hate the styling of all new Acura's and the damn predator grille in the new Lexus cars.

So I am still driving my 07 Acura with 84k+ miles waiting for a sporty stylish sedan to upgrade to.

I would never buy a Ford or GM. Hate the styling of both. Damn I'm picky.

Have you considered an Audi S4?

Honestly no bc it heard reliability isn't so great with Audi. Also every Audi I see on the road gas a front LED burned out.

That being said I do like their styling. I wouldn't by new bc of price and not sure about the lease deals. I should look at them though. Good suggestion.

I get it BMW is drivers car, but I think you should forget about mid-life crisis Porsche and get a nice M series infinity with AWD. I assure it will be more comfortable and almost as fast (ether car would easily let you make huge pile of speeding tickets)

Speaking of american made motors - Caddilac CTS ain't so bad and new 2014 Impala is not so terrible any more

I have a recommendation: change your forum name to BoringSysAdmin. [Half a smiley. Insulting sports car drivers with the mid-life crisis crap is not cool.]

Porsche is a dream of mine but I realize how impractical it is. I'm only 40 now so if I really want to hit that stereotype, I should wait another 10 years to get one ;)

I don't like Cadillac, god the shape of their cars kill me.

I would consider a BMW for sure if the wife wasn't so cold on the idea :(

I likely will keep the Acura another 2-3 years that way my wife's car is paid off and I can splurge a little :)

Hey Irv, I'm not much younger than Gene, so I for a couple more years I get to make fun of 40 (or older) years old :p
and it wasn't an insult, more of harmless pun

My dad had a BMW dealership 20 years back before he retired. I remember them very well . We had a BMW Bavaria with the slant 6. I still remember that car very well. Nothing sounded better than that engine, especially in the upper RPMs. The interior was austere to say the least but that car handled better than Mustang, Camaro or Vette in its time. Its too bad they went all yuppy and become somewhat of a status symbol. If money were no object, I would get an M5 and go hunting for C6 corvettes.

hey, hey!!!! You sell or trade in all German cars before the warranty runs out. Everyone knows that.....The Q5S is the coolest SUV ever made and it handles as well as my 350Z did. I didn't get the "S" line as it was too expensive but the regular 5 is also a fun drive. The S4 is a way cool car since you like sedans.
