I currently own a set of two Bose Companion 2 Series 1 computer speakers. I love the sound quality but would like some more bass. I have been looking for a really cheap sub at thrift stores or online. All of these subs have their wires spliced. Is there any way I can wire the sub to hook into my Bose speakers?

Being a basic computer speaker, the Bose Companion set does not have the connections necessary for a subwoofer. What you can do is get a splitter cable, from your computer and put a subwoofer on the second output.

What kind of connection are you using on the computer side?

To confirm, this is what the back of your speakers look like?

Good bass cost good money - getting junk sub = junk bass. Exceptions are very rare. if DIY is an option maybe you could build pretty decent sub for about $300 all in

Just the regular 3.5mm input and jack from the speakers

Just use a splitter like one of these and a second cable like the one going to the Bose speakers.

Both styles are available at Radio Shack or Amazon for less that $5. You don't need to get anything fancy.

Two things:

1) I have no idea what you mean when you say "I have been looking for a really cheap sub at thrift stores or online. All of these subs have their wires spliced. "

2) If, as it appears, you control the volume from the volume control on one of your Bose speakers, you will have no way to control the volume of the sud from that. It will have to be adjusted separately from the Bose speakers. ...and that will get really old really fast.

that being said, you could get a sub with right and left line level inputs and use a pair of "Y" connectors " on the back of your Bose speakers and feed one leg to the line level inputs on the subwoofer. But be aware of what I mentioned in # 2 above. But, if you constantly control your volume from the computer that should not be an issue.
