Onkyo NR626 A/V Receiver

I just purchased the Onkyo NR626 A/V receiver specifically because it had component video output, which I need because I have an older Panasonic Plasma TV that does not have HDMI inputs. Now after I've got everything set up, am finding that the only output supported by the video component is when input is also component video. Is there a way I can change this through set-up of the receiver?

If not, are there adapters available out in the marketplace that would allow me to transform the HDMI output into a component video signal that my TV will accept?

Welcome to the forum!

I have that same receiver. Sorry, but there is no setting on the Onkyo that will let you convert HDMI to component video outputs. You can check out the available conversions on page 18 of the owner's manual (and most manuals will have that sort of chart, so in the future, you can download the manuals and check before buying).

There have been recent threads here about converting HDMI to component video, such as this one here. Apparently, the converters that do that are becoming harder to get.

Yes, you need to read the thread recommended. If Onkyo did what you want they would hear from the DCP lawyers fast. Any external device that allowed what you want with HDCP protected material is illegal.

Unfortunately my advice to you is to take your TV to the recycling center and get a TV with HDMI inputs. There is no realistic way of resisting this now.

OP: - I would be very interested in your comments on this thread and the one we linked you to.
