Low bass when playing my turntable

Hi guys

I just bought my first turntable. I have a very simple setup. A Sony PS-LX300USB and a Denon AVR-e300 and some cheap $99 speakers from best buy. When i play radio i get a very good bass, but when i play music on my turntable it is very low compared to my radio. Is it just a crappy turntable, or is there something i can do? It's very easy to hear the difference.

Best, Morten

Couple of issues. Firstly, radio stations often boost bass to absurd levels. Regarding your turntable, its output voltage is probably very low. You might need a pre-amp to boost the signal between your turntable and your Denon. Look for a phono preamp on Amazon. See TLS Guy's answer for a more thorough explanation.

Your receiver has no phono input, so you can not connect a turntable directly to that receiver.

You need a preamp to boost the low voltage from the turntable to line voltage, and also provide inverse RIAA correction that all LPs have. You have no bass because the RIAA curve has a large HF pre-emphasis. The preamp will correct this and boost the signal.

You need to flip a switch to activate the built-in phono preamp. Check page 7 of your the TT's manual, HERE. Set it to the "Line" position.

I believe markw has the answer, I believe that TT has a built in phono pre.
