Need a little guidance here...

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum so forgive me if I make a mistake around here.

Recently I have planned on moving my Z-2300 speakers to an upstairs room that is lacking speakers and is in dire need of a sound system. A paint shredding, window cracking sound system. So instead of wasting the next five minutes gentle unplugging wires from this computer I decided I am too lazy to spend a minute to carry this sound system to the room. SO. I was researching -not really- and found a system that I think might be better than the Z-2300. I will need someone's opinion on these and if anyone has a better sound system recommended for me, please by all means post it in here. I am willing to spend between $200 and $250. If you recommend something for me that would really knock my socks off -literally, if I put my feet next to it, it better knock my socks off- I will spend an extra $100 for them totaling around $350. Maybe a bit more. But I would be very grateful if it is cheap but better than one you would find for $500 for example. Are there ones better than the Z-2300?

I am planning on buying a Control One loudspeaker with a ES150P sub-woofer. I've heard it has better mids, the Control One loudspeaker. So what I am looking for is something with a sub-woofer that knocks down walls and kicks them while they're down, with satellites that have a clean, pure sound. That digs a grave for the fallen walls. If you need a little more information relating to what speakers I would like please, let me know.

Hey, welcome to the forums! Let me see if I got this straight. You want speakers so loud they blow women's clothes off, with a budget around $250, right? (Did you ever see The Italian Job?)

If you're interested in satellites, search Amazon for NXG pro 4.1. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Be advised that they're sold each, not per pair. For a subwoofer, for your price range your best bet might be to check craigslist. There's a Paradigm PW2200 (v1 probably) for sale in my area for 200 bucks. Maybe you'll get lucky and find something similar in your area? *shrug* That JBL you found doesn't really appear to be anything special. The ES series is pretty meh.

But with satellites that have a sharp, clean, crisp sound with good mids. Something like the Control One Loudspeaker or should I just get a NAD T770 digital decoder with 70-watt amps and Burr-Brown DACs that blow womens clothes off?

I certainly can live with this system as I have had it before with a different receiver.

The JBL Control One is limited - and will not be like the wind blowing air

For DAC's all you need to do, is buy something like a Denon receiver.

This seems like a very nice setup, thank you! This is exactly what I had in mind and I will be buying it. One quick question about the receiver, when connecting it to a laptop or a computer, is an external sound card recommended or not really needed? I have a feeling I might not be needing my old sound card anymore.

Well, the receiver will allow you to plug the computer directly into it. (On the front.) If the sound isn't that great for you from there compared to direct DVD for example, this little DAC
HiFimeDIY Sabre U2 Asynchronous USB DAC plus the extra wire 6ft 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable - Black - Monoprice.com will get you there.

Actually looking again, the receiver has an internal DAC. Not sure how that works connecting up to the computer. I use an external DAC myself.

(Edit again!) Duh! Just e-mail or call acc4less and ask them what cable you need to plug your computer into the Denon DAC.
