I rented this flick over the weekend and I thought it was a great flick. The actors / actresses did an excellent job including the chicken that starred in The Hunger Games. I found this flick far more suspenseful than Gravity.

Watched it the the other day...it was meh...IMO. Of all the films nominated for Best Picture Dallas Buyers Club was the best of the bunch & the best film of the year IMO. Gravity, 12 years a salve, Nebraska & Captain Phillips I've all watched and enjoyed more...the only flick I must still see from that list is the "Wolf Of Wall Street".

American Hustle cast was stellar indeed but the movie itself was long and for me the script was kind of hard to follow....maybe I'm just slow....

All Gravity had going for it was special effects and a great sound track. There is no way Sandra Bollock's character would have passed the psychological screening required to go out in space. Way toooooooooo much baggage for the rocket to send her into space. :p And what's with the commnader flying laps around the shuttle why the rest of the crew works?

Captain Phillips was excellent. I haven't seen Picture Dallas Buyers Club, 12 years a salve, r Nebraska

Yeah...Gravity was kind of like Oblivion for me enjoyable from the standpoint of special effects & cinematography with lots of LFE. I do like the occasional Drama or even chick flick (with my missus) but give me special effects action flicks with tons of LFE or adventure flicks and I'm golden...:D

There was a chicken in the Hunger Games?

Saw it in theaters, enjoyed it. Especially Bail and his giant gut. :D

Don't get me wrong, Sandra Bollock looked very tight in this flick..... :)

My wife and I saw this movie at the theaters. We thought it was great.

We were rooting for it to win at the Oscars. We were disappointed it did not do so well. :D

Mostly agree. They tried hard not just to style actors like 70s, but also to make movie and script like they did in late 60s and 70s... This style is love/hate thing...

We started to watch it, but got too bored somewhere in the middle...

Watched it last night. It was slow and had a lot going on, but I never got bored. I enjoyed it, but didn't find the story that great. Characters were mostly interesting and the performances were excellent, but IMHO, not an Oscar deserving flick (performances maybe, movie itself, no).

I agree. The cast outshines the story, which in itself isn't particularly inventive.

They could only do so much when it was based on a true story. Remember ABSCAM?

But, it was a showcase for these actors to chew up the scenery, and that they did well. It's hard to picture Christian Bale as Batman without chuckling after seeing this one.
