Denon AVR X1000 vs 2000

Hi there!
I'm currently in the market for a music system, for mp3's and spotify mostly. But that I can also play my TV through. So when I started researching, I was looking at the Denon Piccolo but stumbled across their X1000 and X2000 AVRs.

I have a relatively small living room, so I don't need super loud(I do like hip hop though, so some bass would be good!). All I really want is something with good sound(when compared with the TV's built in speakers, and a crappy logitech ipod dock).
So after much research and comparisons on whathifi.com, I'm leaning to towards stereo sound using either Mission MX1s or Wharfdale Diamond 9.1s, along with the Denon AVR X1000.
But before commit, I was hoping that someone with a bit more experience in the audio department might be able to offer some advice or even recommendations for something better for around £300-£350?

EDIT: Forgot the main question: Would the extra £100 for the X2000 be worth it for my needs?

Thanks,

Matt

If you don't care about the added features of the X2000 then there is no reason to spend 100 pounds more.

He is right. 5.1 speaker system is much better. Get a good 2.1 system now and later you can upgrade them to 5.1 system.
X1000 will easily fill you needs.

The Denon X1000 is an excellent choice. Here's a comparison of features between the X1000 and X2000. IMHO, the extra 15 watts per channel isn't worth the £100 difference, nor is 7.1 channel capability over 5.1; but if you see yourself using any of the other features, then go for it.

Picking speakers for you is somewhat complicated, though. Are you trying to stay below £350 for receiver + speakers? Or is that your budget for speakers only?

In general, the best value receiver is the least expensive one of a good brand that has all the features you want. Then you will have more money to put into better speakers (including subwoofers), which will be much more significant for actual sound quality.
