On the face of it, that seems plausible. But, how are you going to address people who power your sub with 5000 watts when it is intended for only 700? What about people who add 12db of EQ boost using their 700 watt amplifier at 25hz and they cook the sub due to clipping they can't hear?
All the sudden you are getting trashed all over the forums for an "unreliable product" when it is simply setup problems and user error. When "the customer is always right" it makes things difficult even when they are totally wrong (like in my examples above).
