Anthem MRX 710 used as a prepro?

What I want is to have the bass of my mains managed, but not in the subwoofer. I want to run them full range and have Audyssey apply bass corrections. I don't want Audyssey to touch anything 500hz or so and up. This is not possible with Audyssey. "Audyssey" setting is bright and brittle, Audyssey "flat" is even worse with more high end. You think a cutoff frequency would be common sense to incorporate, but alas, no.
I think you should go with the Anthem and see what happens. Is there a local Anthem dealer with a good return policy? Perhaps he may let you borrow a lower end store demo to try out.

Yep, the dealer an hour away has a 7 day return policy so I'm looking into that. Thanks for the input! -Jon

ADTG, I definitely agree that a return policy is vital. I would prefer no correction on my satellites, but it honestly does a good job on my subwoofer. Pis is attached, 1/12 smoothing before/after Audyssey on the sub. I'm pretty happy with those results for an automated software. View attachment 13086
I had a couple of dips in my room that my AV7005 (XT) could not correct, or just a little. Before that my Denon 4308, also XT, did better but the 8801's XT32 finally managed to level them off, not completely but close. So it seems to me it probably even if the users do everything right, the end result could still vary to certain extent depending on the hardware, and likely the specific rooms also. Another example, the AV7005 hardly touch my L/R speakers but the 8801 does add a couple dB in the 4 to 6 kHz range and then roll off from 11 kHz and up.

Peng, thank you for the input! I'd like to think I know what I'm doing with Audyssey. I've read in detail about it, followed the instructions using all 8 positions, pointing the mic up, keeping it away from the reflections off the back off the couch, etc. Basically it makes my speakers too bright and brittle sounding. It could be my 3 year old mic has had some high end roll off occur, so Audyssey XT is compensating. I don't know.

Here's the thing...if Audyssey would incorporate a cutoff frequency to STOP applying correction above a certain frequency, I'd be fine. Anthem does this, but Audyssey does not. Audyssey versions XT and below attempt to correct the minor variations "hair" in the high frequencies...which does more harm than good. XT32 does not operate in the same fashion as the other versions on the high frequencies. Which is why I want to chuck XT out the window on anything but the sub. I think XT32 could be an option, or a correction software with a cutoff frequency, i.e. Anthem's ARC.
It looks like you have done everything right so time to try the Anthem and hopefully it will do it for you. Keep us posted please.

Yeah, same here. Try the Anthem and give us a fair comparison between DEQ vs ARC.

I think the reason I've bought many things over the years is because I buy into the hype. I hear people say product X is better than product Y, and then later I hear product Z is better than product X, etc.

Audyssey think they are the best, Anthem think they are the best, Yamaha think they are the best, etc.

Harman think they are the best and they have their so-called DBT to "prove" it. :D

Now Emotiva claim they have the best Room EQ. Same old story.

So please try ARC and give us a fair detail comparison vs. DEQ. :D

I am very curious if you deactivate ARC and Audyssey MultiXT as a straight comparison between the Anthem MRXx10 and Marantz SR6006 as pre-pros only if you actually hear a sound quality improvement.

I doubt you would hear a difference in Pure Direct mode as long as the volume level is matched and amps not overdriven.
