I want my music library in the cloud...

I've been searching a lot on this lately and haven't come up with a great solution.

I've uploaded a lot of my music via FTP to my hosted server space. Its taken some time, but I've just built web pages for the music I've wanted to listen to with html5 audio tags so they can be played on my phone, office computer, etc. Problem is, there isn't much flexibility- playlists, loop, repeat, etc. It also takes too much time to duplicate and update each individual page for every album. There has to be a better way.

I want to have a light interface to browse and play all my music saved on my server via the web. This seems easy enough but I haven't found anything satisfactory yet.

Any ideas? I don't want to post a public link to what I'm using now, but can PM a link to those willing to help.

Much appreciated...

Have you tried Google Play? IIRC, my brother uses and likes that one.

Interesting- That wasn't at all what I was looking for- hoping to keep the music on my server but it actually might be perfect. Downloading the app now and uploading some music. Appreciate the suggestion. Excited to try it out this week.

Wait... are you talking about something iTunes Match?
Again- not what I was looking for exactly, but that's interesting too. Trying that out as well..

To try to explain again- I have music uploaded to a folder on a hosted domain. Its just in folders saved in a web folder. I had built web pages to access the files. Was looking for a way to access the indexes, etc.

Hey, how about an MP3 player? I just learned to use one and I think I could teach you to use one too. :D

Have you checked out Plex?
A brief PM convo with itschris has also lead me to this solution. Looking forward to setting it up tonight. - there was one distinct advantage of having direct linked media on a server, but I can still use that function when absolutely necessary and use PLEX for day to day. Appreciate the help, fellas.

Wait ... what?

How did this all manage to go over my head?

Glad I could help. :D

I would say it depends... Google play is a great service as it will allow you to store 20,000 songs for free. Amazon also has a decent music cloud storage. I use both but I primarily stick to the google play because I subscribe to their unlimited streaming service. With both service's you can install apps on your computer that will upload songs in the background, and both have players that give you access to your music on android and iOS. In both cases, digital music purchased from the site wont count towards your cloud space, however with Amazon, you get the same benefit if you purchase the physical media as well. So if you purchase an LP or a CD from Amazon, they will automatically add that album to your cloud storage for immediate use while you wait for the album to come in the mail, and again it doesn't count towards your could storage. In the long run, if you like to collect physical media, this could save you a ton of time.
So if you are into physical media, CDs or LPs, I would strongly recommend Amazons cloud storage service. Other wise I would try out Googles. Or if you cant decide... do both ;P
