Some pipes on her.
I heard that she liked to sing jazz for fun? Did I hear that?
I'm going to put in a request to have that recorded.
You heard right.
Renee Fleming has really taken care of her voice. She really loves the music of Ricard Strauss. He literally loved Mezzos and married one.
Ms Flemming has popularized a fun little comic opera, that Strauss wrote for his top drawer during the second world war. This is Capriccio set in Paris, and Renee Fleming plays the Lady Madeline. At the end Strauss gives the Lady Madeline a full 20 minutes of just wonderful Mezzo music. At the end of Rosenkavalier there are two Mezzo riding the orchestral waves.
Anyhow Strauss was supposed to be writing music in support of the Reich. Strauss claimed old age. They would have been furious if they knew he had written this delightful trifle, set in Paris. If the Nazis had found out he would have been in a lot of trouble. After the war he gave us some beautiful music, especially his
Four Last Songs. Renee Flemming has recorded a wonderful performance of these gorgeous songs.
Capriccio is probably an opera you would like. Renee Fleming gives a very sexy performance, and plays the harp and harpsichord on stage!
A really fun production.
