Hello, I am new here, and thought I would ask for some help, I have a NAD 3125 amp, Luxman PD264 turntable , Nad 4155 tuner, what would be some good speakers for this, I have some Boston Acoustic CR57 speakers, like to upgrade speakers, any suggestions..
thanks alex

Depends on the budget, Sonus Faber Guarneri Evo's would be nice, butt also cost a bit more than most people want to spend on 80lbs of speaker...

Carnegie Acoustic CSB1's are really nice and available for $400 a pair rite now through gr research {you have to call for the sale} which is about half price...

for under $400 Ascend cbm170's are nice and on sale for $300, if you can live with a simple black box cabinet, they perform very well...

If your budget allows more than the above, the Philharmonic Philharmonitors are nice and around $850...

Magnepan mmg's are around $600...

Ascend sierra 2's are brand new, getting wonderful reviews and cost a little under $1500...

Wharfedale dentons are nice if you want something retro, I own a pair and they sound wonderful and fit the retro look very well.. $1000 pr

Just really depends on your budget and your wants... I own a lot of bookshelfs, they all do something different, if you like piano black and the csb1's are in your budget, they are an amazing value, I would imagine you need to step up to around $1000 to really better the value... but thats just what I hear... we all like different stuff..

I have the tower versions of the Carnegies mentioned above and I remember reading two professional reviews and the amps used were under 50 watts, a web search should produce some results, never looked for reviews of the bookshelves but at their current prices represent a good value. I also like the piano black finish.

If the Boston M series were buy one get one free when I was looking, I would have strongly considered them as well, can't really go wrong with either.

The arx3 from the theaudioinsider dot com 539.99
monitor audio RX6 599.99 or RX8 on clearance for 649.99

for your price range with most floor standers your not going to gain much low-mid frequency extension (hence listing speakers slightly more than your budget). the RX8 @ 649 is a good deal. you should try to go and listen to as many as you can and bring a good cd with 3 or 4 different songs that your familiar with. Take notes as to what you like and disliked and why for each.
