Ain't nothing wrong with that ;) I've got no complaints my LMS drivers except that they're power hogs.

I am curious to see how the UXL drivers I bought through the group buy compare since they model nearly identically. The LMS drivers have a slight advantage below 30th and the UXL supposedly have the advantage above. If that turns out to be remotely true then the UXL drivers are a steal comparatively, although distortion is probably going to factor in. In how big of a way remains to be seen.

I may forgo a sub for my next build, but I still haven't decided. My 3-ways are actually complete construction wise. I just need to build boxes for the amps and dsp portion. I'm waiting on what should be my last parts for the electronics. I'm really eyeing the SB Acoustics 15"s as a base for a new build. With those I could simply drop a sub since they hit down to around 20hz.

There is another driver in the Mach 5 lineup that might work as well, although size, aesthetics and price might come into play as well. That's also assuming they deliver the performance that they say they will as well, but the Phallus might be an even better fit to not have to use subs.

It would fill the bill as well assuming it can be crossed high. Both could work in a TL. I might try that next.

There's not a ton of information about it, so I'm guessing you'd have to contact the Mark the owner operator, but IIRC it's good up to and past 200hz. How much further I don't know, but it would be an interesting alternative to some of the AE drivers, especially since it has more xmax and handle a bit more power at a respectable sensitivity level.

Data-bass forums used to have some excursion videos which tested the UXL vs the LMS Ultra, it showed the LMS was much more solid when pressed closer to its limits. Some guys who have used both have verified this as well. From what is known of the UXL, the LMS Ultra should have a superior distortion profile as well, the data-bass CEA measurements seem to indicate it. The UXL is great bang for the buck, but it would seem that the LMS Ultra is a step up. The drivers which looks comparable to the LMS Ultra in construction and quality look to be the Aurasound NS18 and Funk's TSAD18.

Obviously the UXL won't stand toe to toe with the LMS Ultra at their limits, but at half the price (less than half at the group buy price), it isn't realistic to expect it to. From the numbers we do have and knowing that there has been a few improvements to the UXL since that test was done, it's easy to be impressed with the UXL (in theory anyways).

Last I knew Funk wasn't selling their driver for DIY projects and the Aura falls a little short in excursion to the LMS Ultra (although at the sale price it's definitely tempting).
