Nvidia did very credible BINARY drivers for several major distros, just never released the code. They they created and contributed with opensource VDPAU library - which helped a lot in process of making low-powered ION platforms to be near perfect htpcs I am not going to call Linus public "comment" uncalled for, but he has a history of sharp comments , to say at the least...

It's more common over here in Scandinavia maybe, perhaps people are more direct here.... I like it
