Hey, is there a huge difference in the psb image t5 vs the imagine t? Also is it worth the extra money for the image t6 over the image t5 if I have a svs sub

There is a big difference {to me}, I was never a PSB fan until I heard the Imagine line, the T2 is something special as are the mini books... The T is a nice speaker too, BUT there are nicer speakers out there for the same price, on the other hand at the $3000 level the psb T2 imagines are my pick, they do a lot of things very well, they have a really nice low end, you won't believe them small drivers can dig like that, and clean, but that is the problem with towers, they are great for lows but I prefer the mids and highs from a pair of books, and you can get an amazing set of books for $2000!!!! since you are crossing the bass out with your sub, why not grab some impressive books and let the sub do its thing for the lows, you will get all the high end definition and nice mids with none of the cabinet resonance a tower can have....

Is this for ht or music

Ok. So you think a set of imagine b would be better than t5? Even tho the image has more drivers?

Personally I would rather have the imagine B's with a capable subwoofer than the T5's, actually I would take the b's over the t5's with out a sub too, the b's go to 35 the t5s are around 30, and the b's had better everything, better bass, mids and highs... The books are a little more money but sound wise you will get more, they may need a little more power, but your overall sound will be night and day better...

I don't put the image series in the same league as the imagine, from start to finish, the imagines are a very nice speaker you can see it from the cabinet to the sound its a better unit.. I would take the minis and a sub over the t6's for a small room...

Do not get too carried away with woofer size - you can not always judge
by looks - I have a pair of 5-1/4 inch bookshelf speakers (different brand)
that will put some 6 and 7 inch woofers to shame. I also have a pair of
4-1/2 bookshelf speakers, that will out-perform some 5 and 6 inch woofers.

Design/engineering and overall quality, is what it is all about.

Very true, also the amount of speakers, more doesn't always mean "more".... I like a simple driver and tweeter in a bookshelf... Speakers are funny, I have listened to many, most of them that I would never spend the asking price for and believe it or not usually its the small inexpensive speaker that surprises me...

Not that I am not fond of them, but there are better speakers for less money... Its normal for speaker companies lowest series to be "not so great", exceptions are Wharfedales diamond 10's {these are well worth the asking price, maybe the most under appreciated speakers in the world} and the Ascend entry level stuff {I like em'}, but focal, PSB, Paradigm, MA, and a few others I listened to that make really nice speakers but they don't offer a good entry level unit, they are OK, but normally overpriced, like you are paying for the name...

have you heard the svs ultra bookshelf speaker? If so, what do you think about them?

I have heard the complete svs line {not all the subs, but a bunch of them too} and I think there is better out there for the money, kind of let down with the tower, I expected an SVS tower to smash the lows, but ehh'... The bookshelfs are fine, but for $1000 there are a lot of nice units out there, the PSB imagine books smoke them in every category for around the same price, I enjoy the sierras more for less money, I actually would put them against the Wharfedale Diamond 10.2's which are half the price, the 10.2s sound all around better, I didn't like the highs out of the ultras and that ruins it for a speaker with me, I want the highs crisp without coming off bright and harsh the ultras had a stronger low end but that is a moot point with books and me because I will use a sub with them 99% of the time....

I'm wondering if you are getting the Image line mixed up with the Alpha series which is PSB's entry level .
