Working on my fist 5.1 system

So far what I want to get are the revel f206 & c205. I'm not 100% sure which rears or the sub to use,denon or avrx4000? I am running speaker wire in the walls right now. Any advice on what wire to use or other items I should look at? I'm looking for the most realistic sound possible. Thanks

Hi. I use the Roger Russel speaker wire size recommendations from the site here. If you scroll down just a bit, there's a handy table for wire gauge as a function of speaker impedance and wire length.

Another recommendation is to use in-wall rated speaker wire. You can check your local building codes, but it might be required for insurance reasons. You don't need to spend a lot of money. Monoprice makes good wire, IMO, as do others.

How big is your room? The caliber of sub is dependent on room size. Also, what is your budget?

20x20x10 trying to stay around 8-10k for the whole system for right now. Looking for the most real sound at the price.

With that type of money - I think you should audition - no one can speak for your ears.

What are the top speakers in my price range that I should look into. Should I look to put more money in my fronts and go a little cheaper on rears?

Front 3 way more important then rears but a sub/subs will take a large chunk of your budget. Do you have any parts/pieces or do you need everything for 8-10k?

This is a very a noob question but do I need any pre amps or amps and what is the reason for them? Can someone give me an over view of how to set up a good system.
