Hello. I just bought the Onkyo HTX-22HDX (5.1) with built in AV receiver in the subwoofer. Is it possible to run it with a separate AV receiver? I also have the Marantz NR1504. Can I use the Marantz as my AV receiver then use the Onkyo as speakers and sub? I hope Im making sense. Im new to the home theatre scene so I would appreciate any help.

Really? Don't worry...I know exactly what he's talking about.

Welcome to the forum, Albert! Yes, you can run that speaker set from the Marantz. You would connect the smaller speakers directly to the speaker terminals on the Marantz (so, don't connect them to the sub). In addition, you'd connect the subwoofer output on the Marantz to an RCA splitter, and then connect both ends of the splitter to one of the analog inputs on the Onkyo sub. You'd select that input on the Onkyo, and you'd adjust the volume on the Onkyo as if it were a powered subwoofer - in other words, set the volume, run the Marantz auto setup routine, and only adjust the volume on the Onkyo again if the Marantz says to.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Can you? yes. Attach your pre-out on your Marantz to one of your "in" pairs on your Onkyo.

Should you? Not in a million years. It's an abomination before God and nature. The number of electrical and auditory problems you could create is legion.

*edit* Adam posted while I was typing and, while I stand behind what I said above, his way would work... except that I might be worried about the crossover points being different and sound getting "lost" */edit*

Thanks Adam! I was really worried because I bought the HTX-22HDX for myself without knowing that my gf bought me the Marantz as a gift. I thought we wasted some money. Hehe. Thanks for the info as well JerryLove. Il keep that in mind.
