I need a device which will convert DSD to multi channel analog and it appears the Sony STR-DA2800ES receiver will do that; and, in addition, it will receive wireless input from my iTunes library on laptop which will eliminate the need for wired usb to Toslink connection that I occasionally trip over. Any here have any experience with this receiver?

I would almost get any brand other than sony. My opinion of course, but I'd rather have something with Audyssey. Denon actually.

Wow, any other brand than Sony, you must have had a bad experience with the brand to have such an emotion. Perhaps you can share the experience. I would also like an informed opinion from someone who actually has this product. BTW, I am considering this receiver because I am completely satisfied with my current HT which is comprised of Sony components. The pre/pro for my system only lacks DSD and Wi-Fi and although I can satisfy the wireless need with something from Logitech the DSD to analog is not it appears available as an add on.

Late reply, but I have had quite a lot of experience. I sold their products for a few years and almost all other brands gave you more for your money. Sony used to be a company that you paid more to get more (Trinitron), but have since relied on their name alone. Their TV's aren't any better and are sometimes worse than other brands and their AVR's are in the same boat. Specifically their amp section. IIRC they measured much worse a few years ago than competing brands (Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, and Pioneer). They used to miss out on features that were considered common.

They have recently put some pretty cool features (Netflix) into some of their receivers that show they are trying, but their previous efforts have left a bad taste in my mouth.
