neighbour complaints

If you ask me, having close neighbors is just a speed bump not a stop sign... I am lucky to have neighbors so far away that I would need to install a dozen 21' PRO SUBWOOFERS at the property line facing their home before they hear it if they are outside listening for it, lol.... But if I were you I wouldn't go moving yet, just do some recon and figure out what will work and how much of it...
Do you have experience in having a full-range system with downstairs neighbors? Have you tried out the solutions you've mentioned (successfully)?

In a previous apartment (paper thin walls, I could hear the adjoining renter yelling at her teenage daughter and the dog upstairs playing) (lived there for 5 years) me and my downstairs neighbor had full surround setups with big subs. Between us there was only two instances when he told me to turn in down and I had approach him only on one occasion.

If no one was home, we would shake the structure with aplomb. One time I had someone from the next building over come and tell me to turn it down since his wife was having a migraine and my bass was bothering her!

We were keenly aware of other neighbors presence in the building and we never broke quiet hour rules.

Moral of story, community living is a give and take. Enjoy your setup, but be reasonable, and you'll be fine.

Ahhhh...but that's a Mutually Assured Destruction situation, of course you got along!
Haha! My comment was intended to demonstrate that two super powers were playing nice with the wimpy neighboring HTIBs :D.

Sure, I could get a place that doesn't have a wood structure but the cost of a place such as this is more expensive... Thanks for your comments and I'll take them all into consideration.

The t.v. + surround could go upstairs or down. By putting it up, the only thing I am worried about are the reflection points to the sides as the upstairs is pretty wide open.
