Home Theater Addition - Wii - How to hook up fro 480p?

Hello,
I am trying to help my family hook up their new Nintendo Wii with the component cables so that they can play in 480p.

Components are as follows:
TV- Fujitsu Plasma (~40'), has 1 set of component hook ups
A/V Reciever - Denon (not sure which model, from about 3 years ago, has 3 sets of component hook ups (monitor in and 2 video outs)
Power Conditioner - Monster HTS 3600 MKII
Cable Box- Newest from Comcast - Motorola?
Also connected is a DVD player, CD player

I am able to hook the Wii up using the VGA cables and an available set of hook ups on the receiver. I want to try and get better picture using the component video cables.

I tried hooking the component video cables to one of the available component TV out sets on the receiver but that didn't work. My understanding is that the monitor in hookups must be used in order for the component out to work (I am not exactly sure how the TV is connected to the reciever - possibly TV>Cable Box>receiver?). I would hook the Wii into the TV directly but all the hookups are already in use.

Sorry I feel like I am rambling now. Does anybody have a suggestion on where to start. I would like this to work with our existing set up. I will add more information if people need it. Thanks!

First off you will need your receiver connected to your TV via component. After that you connect the wii to the receiver via component and then in the receivers setup menu assign the component in to the Wii. After that you go to your Wii video menu and choose 480p.

I am hesitant to do as you said because my dad had a "professional or consultant" set the system up 3 or so years ago. I wouldn't want to ruin the work he has done (it is in our enclosed cabinets, access is a *****, set up with all-in-one remote, etc).

In what you said above, would this affect our viewing of HD content from the cable box? It is strange that the component cables from the TV are not going to the receiver. I think they go to the cable box. Could I potentially go [HDMI from TV to Cable Box] and then [component from TV to reciever]? Thanks again!

Doing what I said wont affect anything at all it will just add the Wii to the list of things your receiver has connected to it. If you do not really know what you are doing and worried about ruining something have your dad help you.

One reason the component cables are going from the cable box to the tv is becasue video is the only thing carried by these cables there is probably a seperate cable carrying the audio from the box to the receiver.

You could do your what you said but if you currently get surround from your cable box that will be lost unless you have an audio cable also running to the receiver.

Well thanks again for the response. I do not know much about home theater systems, which is why I am being hesitant. My dad doesn't know that much, which is why a consultant was brought in to do the hard work. Personally I would have set up the system myself but I'm not the one with the money. If I can build a computer, I'm sure I can figure this out, I've only messed around with it for an hour. If I have any more questions, I'll post 'em up. Thank avaserfi

Ok another question.

So I should go - [TV to Receiver component monitor in], I would then go [Wii to receiver component out 1], and [Cable Box to receiver component out 2]?

I think I understand what you meant earlier now. I could have it set up from [TV to Receiver to Cable box], but that would be wasteful as I would have to buy an extra component cable (which I now have to, in order to get the wii to work). This is why it is now TV to cable box. Thanks!

You should have the Wii or Cable box in the receivers component in 1 and 2 then the receivers component out running to the televisions component in. After that you will need to look at your manual and assign the components to the proper settings under video set up for your receiver and you should be golden.
