YPAO PEQ - Leave on or off?

I ran the YPAO a bunch of times and finally settled on a calibration that I liked.

I have a RX-A660, so a basic YPAO and a single PEQ mode. Speaker layout is 2.1

I decided to test out some music and found that I liked EQ set to OFF instead of PEQ. I found the PEQ to be a bit sharp, tinny, and treble slightly overemphasized.

As anyone else had a similar experience? Am I doing something wrong?

I have a much older Yamaha receiver and I believe it only gives me 3 choices. Flat, natural, and front. I don't think "off" is even an option. Flat sound best, at least with my Definitive Technology speakers. Natural rolls off the highs and kinda cuts the sound down considerably. Switching to flat made an huge difference.

My Yamaha AVR has YPAO. I also have a Pioneer AVR with Pioneer's room correction. On some speakers I have preferred the room correction (YPAO), and on others it sounded better with it turned off. Do whatever sounds best to you in your environment. Peace and goodwill.

It's just a matter of preference, use what sounds best to you.

I tend to like music without the EQ also. I no longer really have a quick option for not having it without going to the menu to turn it off with the new Pre.
