Wow...who would have thought.... I'm pretty sure the Tosh...cost a bit more did you receive any compensation or did you switch straight up? Otherwise good luck with the Panny, I'm still on the bubble as to which panny to get.

Regards, Bill...:)

Believe me, I almost bought into the whole LED hype when I first started looking for a panel for our living room. The showrooms are usually too bright to judge the pq of plasmas plus they are trying to push those LEDs out the door.....more $$$ for them, it's just business. Most plasmas you see look dull and are improperly setup by the bigger name stores. I doubt they even break them in correctly or even if at all. I even saw a Sanyo LCD at Walmart that looked better than the panny plasma below it. Where the heck has Sanyo been these days? Hiding in the back of some K-Mart somewhere? lol **WAIVER** No offense to you Sanyo owners. :)

Just like when auditioning speakers...the room makes all the difference in the world. I doubt most folks are watching in such bright enviroments where they need such a "torching" picture. In store it is deceiving. You see these bright colorful LEDs with some demo disc making them look like magical even. It's not like they are horrible panels, they just don't compare to the overall quality of a good 'ol plasma. I don't think they can go but so far with the LED backlights, personally. Who knows....maybe lazer panels will be the next big thing, that's if they can make them affordable to common folks. Until that day, I'll stick with my plasma. Who gives a damn if they cost $5 more a month on your electric bill? Burn-in isn't a problem with newer models...image retention to some degree but it isn't permanent. There's little excuse to not buy a plasma, especially with these low prices you're seeing. Bottom line....I just can't indorse inferior technology such as the "LED" lit panels.

Oh, yeah, I'm glad to see you decided to join us. Welcome to the darkside. :D

The G10 is a good choice. My ol' man just got one for his basement. Very easy on the eyes with enough "pop" in colorful scenes. Did you have the opportunity to see a V10 model? They are little pricier but do great BD playback with the 1080/24. This panel will be my plan B if the KRP 500M falls through. I'm pretty much broke from buying audio equipment at the moment. I wasn't aware until recently that the 500M was so affordable...now I'm trying to round up some stuff for ebay to get one of these panels before they vanish into thin air!

I was sold on plasma after seeing one set up properly in the right enviroment. Just make sure to break it in properly and you will be rewarded greatly for many years to come. :)

Well you could find a ISF pro by calling your local a/v specialists or you can DIY. At least get a calibration disc if you DIY. Some can do this without any equipment all but I wouldn't suggest it.

Based on recommendations at this forum, I downloaded the plasma break-in material from the site linked here. I have a G10, and I used the "Plasma Break-in DVD Images" (second on that page with a direct link to the 8KB zip file is here) - I put the images on an SD memory card and used the image slide show mode on the TV. Much easier for me than playing a DVD.
