Yamaha RX-V2700 - Zone 2 With Speaker Selector

I just bought the Yamaha 2700 and was told that I could connect zone 2 (using the internal amp) to a speaker selector switch (which they sold me) to control 2-channel audio in two other rooms. The user manual says to not connect to a passive speaker selector switch. My questions are: can I do this if I run just one of the connected sets of speakers at a time, and is there a 'non-passive' selector that would be ok? The one I have doesn't say passive or not, if there is a difference.

Thanks

If you use an impendence matched selector it is fine. You could also use impedence matched volume controls.

Please excuse my lack of expertise and understanding in this area, but would you be able to shed some light on what I would look for here to ensure impedence is correct? Does the selector have an impedence?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Does anyone know if this yamaha would be enough to drive a pair of B&W 683s?

...or a pair of Revel Concertas or maybe the PSB Image T65?
