I am looking at the polk 65t or 75t with the Polk Audio Monitor-25C and the KLIPSCH Reference Series 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer (x2) or the elac F5 towers and elac center with the same subs. What do you think? and why?

Hi Jason and welcome to the forum. Before any of us can really help you we need more info. Like how big is your room? What is the layout? Is it open to other rooms? What is your preference in terms of Music/Home Theater? Are you a gamer? Have you actually heard the Polks and/or the Elacs? Honestly, you would be much better off forgetting about the Polks. The reason being is that the tweeter is very bright and forward to the point that fatiguing sets in rather quickly. There are much better choices out there inmho. Lastly, why are you only considering the Klipsch sub? Klipsch makes great speakers no doubt, but subs are NOT their forte so to speak. I do, however, like you idea of using dual subs. So, now please give us some more info and we will be glad to help you.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks for getting back to me. My room is 12x14 its not open to other rooms. 70 percent movies 30 percent music. not a gamer. There is no place to hear the speakers around here, all online. The Klipsch sub is on sale at new egg for $150 trying to stay under $1000 for 5.2 speaker system.

Jason, $1K for a complete 5.2 setup is not going to get you much. If it were me, I would put that 1K towards my main speakers and hold off on the sub(s) until you have more budget to opt for them. Since your preference is on HT, then I would look at the Klipsch Reference Premiere Line of speakers. Maybe get a set of fronts and a center, then add rears later on. Once you recover from that, then opt for dual subs. BTW, do you already have an AVR? Lastly, do you prefer floor standers or are you more interested in bookshelfs? Just so you know I also live in a small apartment and still had dual 15" sealed subs. But, I do understand what you are saying in that regard. Here is a link for the Klipsch Premiere Reference Line:

Personally, I prefer bookshelfs mated to a capable sub or subs. Anyways, this is just a starting point. Anyways, hope this is of some help.

Cheers,

Phil

Another option would be this Hsu package:

Hybrid 2 MK5 3.1 package for 1,019! Then, once you recover you can add from there. Here is a link:

http://www.hsuresearch.com/packages.html

You have to scroll down the page some to find that specific package.

Phil

You could also get 5.0 with AA Monitors http://philharmonicaudio.com/aa.html and add 2 Dayton subs http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1200-12-120-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-629 That is what I personally would get for that budget. If you don't have receiver already you can find one here http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/category/avreceiver/home-audio/receivers-amps/home-theater-receivers/1.html Just get the one that has all the features you will need from either Yamaha / Marantz / Denon.

Another good package to consider is this:

http://www.fluance.com/home-theater-systems/xlhtb-high-performance-5-speaker-surround-sound-home-theater-system

The package is $750 shipped! That would leave you near enough to get the Klipsch subs you were looking to get. Fluance also provides free return shipping in the event you are not happy with them. Gene D. did a review of the towers. Here is a link"

http://www.audioholics.com/tower-speaker-reviews/fluance-xl7f

Keep in mind that the Fluance XL7F towers also have 8" down-firing subs built in. Gene seemed to like them for the most part. Just thought that I would mention this to the OP!

Cheers,

Phil

These are a great deal and could be used as fronts/surround speakers they are amazing looking too Black Piano finish. Ask the seller if he has 3 and use one as a center. I love mine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0044UHVOK/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
I've own alot of brands and these sound great with anything you throw at it. Don't let the small size fool you they go loud too. They would make your apt look even more classier. :)

I am going to go with the Pioneer VSX-831 it has a better rating than anything I have found from any other brand.
I looked at the Denon, Marantz and Yamaha all of them had a lower rating. There were some AVR from onkyo that had a better rating. I heard they have gotton the problem with the HDMI board fixed. To much of this stuff is made in China (junk) 4 diffrent receivers from Denon said the ratings it stoped working within 3 months. Did customer review after looking on

I would not look so much into those ratings as they are user based and most users don't really know about anything better. Denon / Marantz / Yamaha are well known for their quality and there is a reason why they are recommended. I don't say Pioneer won't do the job, but I myself would pick receiver from said 3 brands.
