My parents have some of their old 70's gear in the attic:

- Sony St 5055 Tuner:

- Pioneer SA 800 Amplifier

I want them to ship them to me... is this safe?
Bubble wrap sufficient?
Are these things more fragile than the newer receivers?
Any thoughts on audio quality I should expect from these guys?
I'm hoping to hook the receiver up to a Squeezebox to stream MOG...
Specs for Integrated amp are here:
D 'n A Electronics Specifications | Pioneer SA-800 Specs | Pioneer SA-800 Repair | Pioneer Repair | Pioneer Stereo Repair | Vintage Stereo Repair
I also saw mention of 2x 40/wpc in 8ohm in another source.
Specs look fine, but the final SQ will largely depend on condition of amp and your speakers .
Adjusted for inflation original price of $240 in 1972 would be worth $1236.59 in 2010.

And shipping them? Any concerns? Probably hook it up to Bose (don't shoot me) acoustimass's or some ceiling speakers I'm in the market for...

PS - Is that a sick looking tuner or what.
