It begins...the wife and I want to transition to a flat panel tv with a wall mount. She wants to get a new AV rack first before we get the tv. We both agree on a vertical rack that can stand to the side in the living room. It will hold a receiver, PS3, DVR, Wii, DVD player, and maybe one additional rack for future expansion or just extra stuff. Pretty sure we want a door on the front that we can close (kid on the way) and obviously needs to be ventilated in the back-"open-ish" design is fine, I can add fans or something later if needed. Looking in the up to $500 range most likely, although cheaper is preferable. I'm not sure if it's possible for that price, but I'm keeping fingers crossed. Anyone have some brands/models that they would suggest?

Thanks!

I'd take a look here. I wouldn't recommend an enclosed cabinet unless you had active cooling/ventilation.

I will have to check that out at home-it won't load correctly at work. Thanks! Any other suggestions?

P.S.
I'm aware that with an enclosed cabinet, at the least, I'll need to open the door whilst watching movies/playing games/listening to music, etc unless active cooling is either included or added on by myself.

I've been looking for an AV rack as well and I think there are a few good choices for under $500 that you can find on Amazon. You might want to check out the Sanus Euro rack, http://www.amazon.com/Sanus-Systems-Accurate-Furniture-Audio/dp/B00004U8A0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310069199&sr=8-1, or the Salamander archetype 3.0, http://www.amazon.com/Salamander-Designs-A3-Archetype-3-Shelf/dp/B0006VPUM6/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1310078346&sr=1-3.
Those are fairly attractive stands, but she reiterated the fact that it must be enclosed with a door, so they are a no go. Thanks though!

Trust me, I understand the importance of the wife factor in AV equipment! :)

Congrats on the nice rack. Hmmm, that sounded better in my head. :D

Seriously, though, I like Sanus gear and was tempted to get something in that line when I got my new TV. That's a nice stand, and I'm glad that you got a deal!
